5x safe swimming in natural water in the Netherlands

Feeling Hot Hot Hot. Time to cool off and take a dip. Swimming in natural water is ideal, but not just everywhere and nowhere. From May to October, the quality of natural water decreases in many places The Netherlands measured. The result is one card, where you can always find the latest status of bathing water quality. Cooling down in a responsible way is surely the best cooling you can find. Therefore: 5 x swimming spots in natural water in a row (and always check that card!).

In the city? Here the children are allowed to run wild when it is warm in the city.

First things first: Before you leave with your beach bag, parasol and cool box, check the map of safe swimming spots. The places we recommend to you in this list may also differ per day in terms of swimming safety. The biggest cause of this is blue-green algae, according to Rijkswaterstaat. You know, that layer on the water surface that is sometimes blue and sometimes green. But that layer does not always have to be visible, while the consequences are. You may experience skin irritations, headaches and complaints in your stomach or intestines. So be careful.

Here you will find the map

Beach bar Bruis, Roermond

Beach bar Bruis, Roermond

That you good you can cool off in Limburg, is now clear. And there is a spot near natural water that we like to visit Beach bar Bruis. A beach bar? In Limburg? Yes, yes. A beach bar without a real beach, after all, there is no sea in Limburg (gosh), but with the desired beach bar vibes at the Maasplassen. Beach bar Bruis is part of Area-X, where you can swim well.

Back to the menu of Strandbar Bruis. How about the stuffed portobello with buffalo mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes or the varying 'catch of the day'? Sounds good, right? For a snack, cocktail, beautiful interior and sun, you've come to the right place at Bruis. We assure you.

Henschotermeer in Utrecht

Henschotermeer in Utrecht

Hello Scandinavia, uuuuh the Netherlands. Henschotermeer in Utrecht to be precise. You will find it in the middle of the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, about a twenty-minute drive from Utrecht city.

And that holiday feeling of Scandinavia comes from the decent white sand with tall trees. The Henschotermeer is open daily from 8.30:XNUMX am to sunset. Nice place for rest or a walk around the lake. You can get delicious ice creams from the food trucks of IK SMELT FOR YOU and you can eat or drink something in the Old Beach House.

Staying near the Henschotermeer? Stameren estate is a delight for large families who want to experience nature.

Strandvier, Monnickendam

Strandvier, Monnickendam

It is still quite difficult for Amsterdam residents to find a place to swim in natural water. Of course there are plenty of paddling pools and wading pools, but natural water is really different. Problem solved: Strandvier near Monnickendam is the place for Amsterdammers (and actually everyone).

Strandvier is the beach bar next to a lake in the Hemmeland, a large piece of greenery right next to Monnickendam. No large scale here tourist trap, but a delicious place with Mediterranean food from the Argentinian barbecue. Instead of going to the well-known city beaches like Blijburg, which are bursting with people so you can barely get into the water (Amsterdammers, we're looking at you), go to this heaven on earth, just ten kilometers away. You have to walk a short distance from the car and there you are real life Bone.

Dot, Groningen

Dot, Groningen

From a distance you can see a large white sphere emerging between the old Groningen gas factories. This sphere is called Dot and inside at Dot you can sit and enjoy a good meal. Outside you can chill on the famous city beach in the warmer months. And if that's not enough, you can also follow it with a film or theater performance in the beautiful Dome. You have to see it to understand how beautiful this is.

You will find the city beach in the Ebbingekwartier, next to Dot. This section is cordoned off with buoys for swimming.

Iron Man, Vught

Iron Man, Vught

A children's paradise, but certainly no less pleasant for the parents. That's what we call the Iron Man in Vught, better known as the beach of Brabant. In the wooded area (including good parking spaces) you naturally come to swim at the beach. But IJM has grown in recent years into (do you have a minute?) a place to really have a nice drink and eat at IJM Strandhuys. But also a place where you go for activities that you are reluctant to do, thanks to a climbing forest and an Expedition Robinson program. And then there are plenty of play opportunities for the kids. You can play on the water attractions and rent a SUP, kayak or pedal boat.

Returning to IJM Strandhuys. Good spot.
