5 unmissable summer addresses in Antwerp
Read it differently here Just think about all those first Antwerp tips. Nowadays, Emma recommends her favorite addresses in Antwerp, and conveniently takes the most beautiful snapshots of them. Because it is possible. You read and watch them here, and a few more below. Because no, a heavy rain shower does not make autumn. Stop it. In the coming weeks you can simply relax on these summer spots in the nicest city in Belgium. You can thank us, Emma, later.
Last summer, Stulp 'did' it at Het Eilandje and for the summer of 2018 the Belgians will move their summer pop-up concept to the courtyard of Kavka.

On to the best hidden square in Antwerp, the Vrijdagmarkt at the beginning of Kloosterstraat. The square itself is one of the most beautiful squares in the city and the Kloosterstraat is by far our favorite street in the city: the lovely interior design shops, from antiques to hipperdepip, are sure to please. Especially on Sundays there is a party, when most of the city is closed (the Belgians just do that, so that there are many more Sundays there than in, for example, Amsterdam, and the shops in the Kloosterstraat put their wares outside.
Back to the Vrijdagmarkt because that is where Bar Bel is located, the wine bar of the sweetest owner Annabel. You'll see for yourself. The welcome is warm, the interior southern, the wines from European small wineries and the Spanish tapas to die for.
Especially on Fridays, go to the Vrijdagmarkt – what's in a name. Then it's a market and you can score the finest trinkets. Although the square looks thoroughly French every day of the week. Don't miss!

From the curiosities on the Kloosterstraat to the quintessential French of the Vrijdagmarkt back to the Kloosterstraat to a place called 'Take 5 Minutes in Paris'. Huh? Are we still in Belgium? Mais oui! This fairly simple cafe is located among all the nice antique shops: just right, as it is sometimes (often) wonderful to relax in an uncomplicated cafe in a not too hip cafe.
Also not unimportant: Take 5 Minutes in Paris has a large and mega (but really!) nice summer garden!
If you need a cup of good coffee and a beautiful, large terrace in the heart of the city, head for the Vleminckveld. That sounds out of the way but it is around the corner. Here you will find Cafématic, one of those brown cafes of today. Old school interior, hip logo, smooth service and a special menu with, for example, gingerbread-almond coffee, ginger coffee, cardamom coffee and cinnamon coffee. Also not to be missed are the salads and sandwich-like treats (wraps, etc.) from the chalkboard.
