Wine shop Chateau Karlito in a fantastic spot in Amsterdam North
Another nicest and oh so creative find up coming Amsterdam North: Chateau Karlito. Chateau Karlito (named after the all-round owner Karlito) is an initiative of a great aunt who wanted to combine a good natural wine shop with everything else she loves: jazz, beautiful tableware (the ceramic kind) and coffee (to go!) and - important - Brabant sausage bread.
The tastiest, says team Amsterdam. Very acceptable sausage bread, says team Brabant ;-). In any case, we (more than) approve of it. So again: on to Amsterdam North and join the Van der Pek street where Chateau Karlito is located.
Karlito, as we may call the owner (but we are not yet sure whether it is her real name...), has quite a nose for good wines. Her friend helps in the background and that is also nice because he in turn knows about jazz. a top combination if you ask us. Three guesses what sounds from the speakers when you step over the threshold... Wines in all shapes and sizes and from all corners of the world and the best of New Orleans & co in the background.
We tasted a delicious red (tip!) CBGB from 2017, from no control. An absolute tip if you like a good red natural wine (we do). Apart from the delicious wines, sake is also available. Sake's that, among other things, are also included Okura Hotel are donated (and trust us, they only serve the best there).
Wine check. Jazz check. Sake check. And then we still have the crockery. All ceramics sold at Chateau Karlito are of our own design and are made in Asia. All with the beautiful timeless logo Chateau Karlito on it. We like.
Finally, a quick word about that sausage bread: the owner is from Brabant and if anything could not be missed, it would be really good sausage bread. The sausage rolls come straight from a bakery in Brabant (and no, they are not the rolls that you often see in the Randstad nowadays... We think they are ok, but they are not the real ones, to be honest). Coffee to go and sausage roll and go to the Van der Pekmarkt or discover other great spots in Noord.
