Taking a trip to our own Dutch Balearic Islands really gives you that instant holiday feeling. Oh hey, hello Wadden Islands! That moment when you see the sea, while you still have to take the boat trip, then you know, the (mini) holiday has started. Ameland is nice for a weekend away, but Ameland is even more fun for a week or longer. Then you arrive at that island vibe. Get away from the mainland for a while. Peace, space and a breath of fresh air. A collection with the best of Ameland was still missing, stupid of course. Until now: Barts Best of: Ameland. Again.

Look, a cool beach tent as a beach tent is meant to be. No hassle at Sjoerd, but always fun and a good (beach) meal, a beer and good-natured staff. That makes or breaks our holiday. Sjoerd makes it. There it is, very blunt, but the truth, just Very Relaxed. Oh, and we like the tables with built-in fire. A place to come back to day after day (after day after day). And yes, that's completely okay.
The program Van Heeckeren Hotel on Ameland is small-scale and cozy; personal service it is. Rooms with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The hotel even has several restaurants. A Grand Café to start with; there you can sit down on one of the lovely lounge benches by an atmospheric fire and enjoy a glass of good wine or a fresh cocktail. And there is a Beach Club; The best sushi and sandwiches are sold here, while you chill with your feet in the sand. Tasting room Rixt can be found under the tower in Nes - a cozy atmosphere and the ideal place for an evening out. Something for everyone, so to speak. Breakfast is important to them at Van Heeckeren: the people there claim that they serve the most extensive breakfast buffet in all of Ameland. A breakfast you'll love.
We talk about this regularly on the site Texel, Terschelling en Vlieland. We talk more than once about the the nicest beach tents and we write down our favorite addresses Ibiza en Formentera regularly... But what about our own Ameland?
Glamping is the new camping and in our opinion this trend cannot last long enough. If you want to get your nature fix, you no longer have to do it in a small, old tent on a leaky air mattress. Not those collapsed camping chairs that will leave your back aching for the rest of the day. No, real lounge furniture that you can sink into. If you at Little Canvas Escape Ameland go to sleep, you have luxury, style, comfort and you are in the middle of nature (but really in the middle of it, in the first dune barrier and directly on the sea). It may take a bit of searching upon arrival, but then you see the tipi tops rise above the dunes and you no longer see anything of the outside world (although there is plenty of fun within walking distance). Only greenery, dunes, rustling trees – the holiday has begun.

Beach Club The Sunset on Ameland, Ibiza on the North Sea, as they say, is wonderful and hot news.
Beach club The Sunset is located on the far western tip of Wadden Island Ameland. There are plenty of lounge sofas on the terrace to relax in, where you can enjoy the really tasty dishes from the extensive lunch menu (especially the finger food is great) and the cocktails and various G&Ts are made with love and shaken.
Summer beats come from the speakers, the view over the wide North Sea beach is brilliant nothing beats with-your-feet-in-the-sand – Beach Club The Sunset is not called the Ibiza of the North Sea for nothing!
