Inside Maartje's home @BartsBoekje – all colours, brands and details

Our house (hi, Maartje) appears on the well-known Instagram @BartsBoekje (Here) I regularly pass by, and questions about all the colors, brands, details, and other interior design choices invariably roll into the DMs in droves. Hence, a compilation article with all the information here. This list will, of course, be updated regularly, and (more) photos of all the rooms (and the garden!) will follow. Promise! Voila, a sneak peek inside Maartje's @BartsBoekje home – all the colors, brands, and details.

NB: This article covers the floor from the ground floor upwards! Information, for example about the bedroom, can therefore be found at the very end of this document.

Throughout the house

Throughout the house

Throughout the house, every skirting board, every door and every frame has the same colour Hunter from LAB Paint. Yes, everywhere, even if it sometimes seems different: that is because of the light. The color in the hallway on the first floor (a slightly darker shade) is Berlin Summer, also LAB Paint.

We have switching equipment and sockets everywhere Bright Little Things. The smallest 'thing' in the house and often forgotten/ignored, but I think it does so much for your home!

All custom work (which is all the woodwork) was made for us by Pim Interior Construction.

The Ground Floor

The kitchen was also custom-made by Pim Interior Design. The green natural stone was custom-made (and oh so incredibly beautiful!) by Jan Reek Natural Stone (mega tip, incredibly good help here). The lights (3 x) above the kitchen are from H&M, and the standing lamp on the counter is via Marktplaats (the base) and the hood is HKliving. The tiles next to it are available via De Sanitairwinkel: Ragno Look ochre (don't let the 'ochre' fool you: they are actually much more beige than yellow – we have this one in the showroom).

The dining table is from Table du Sud and the Loods5 chairs (I saw that this color is no longer in the collection). The runner again from The Souks and the crazy lamps above the dining table Arluci Lighting  (all handmade and so beautiful!)

Something soapy: Ajen

Something soapy: Ajen

The kitchen is the beating heart of the house… yeah right, but it really is true, of course. The place where everyone rushes in and out. And the place where the soap dispenser works overtime. It’s not just because of the beautiful green color that matches so well in our kitchen (that too, really), but certainly also because of the delightful scent and the beautiful brand story of the Dutch brand Ajen. Maartje Frederiks (founder of HelloFresh) and Patrick Hurenkamp (Bloomon) started Ajen – an Old Frisian word related to the English 'again'. It became botanical home & body care made in the Netherlands, inspired by nature, with a delightful design eye. 97% natural ingredients, free from parabens, silicones, mineral oils, and microplastics. And recyclable refill packaging: that saves about 70% plastic compared to regular disposable bottles. But then the scent! Oh, the scent. Wilderloof: cedarwood, clove, amber, and coriander, making it dark and warm. Citrus pepper: mandarin, black pepper, ginger, and nutmeg sage – fresh with a twist. Both unisex, both on the 'sniff-your-hands' level.ouch

Ayen

Also nice: Barts Boekje's favorite interior brands, an ever growing list.

The fireplace is a gas fireplace, purchased from Heat Store (very nice people, recommended!). The tiles around it are via De Sanitairwinkel: Ragno Look ochre (don't let the 'ocher' fool you: they are actually much more beige/green than yellow – we picked these out in the showroom). Visible on this reel.

The walls and ceiling are painted in the color Madonna from Lab Paint.

The doors were made by the contractor (our contractor was Bas Govers, Breda), so no details about this. The curtains are Number74 (color: powder). On the wall a print of Hotel Magique. palm tree fabric on the bench is Palace and the graphic pouf is Studio Nox.

The lamp on the wall, with the white porcelain shade, is from Paxel Store and the tiles are once again a find TopTiles.

The stove is FalconWe bought the tap through De Sanitairwinkel (great for having everything in one place, highly recommended to keep your renovation as stress-free as possible).

The green modular cabinet (can be expanded: a multifunctional dream of a design cabinet) is USM Modular, the lights above are Casa Gitane.

A good start is a good neighbor

A good start is a good neighbor

Are you also moving or renovating? A good start is a good neighbor. Nice. to know: Men (35%) turn out to be even slightly more curious than women (31%) when it comes to taking a look behind the front door of new neighbors. After all, that interior reveals so much about who someone is! But curiosity or not, that first contact with your neighbors is worth its weight in gold. Milka's 'hello survey' among 1.000 Dutch people shows that no less than 78% are more lenient regarding renovation nuisance if new neighbors introduce themselves immediately. So, a simple knock on the door does more than you think.

To make that first step easier, Milka has developed special door hangers with space for a personal greeting and a chocolate bar attached. Because tenderness and connection are central to Milka. What's more: anyone who gets to know their neighbors via Milka's activation page stands a chance to win €10.000 for a joint dream project in the neighborhood. From a shared community garden to the renovation of a playground, anything is possible. You can find more info at win.milka.nl/zeghallo.

(text continues below the image)

The wood on the wall is wood, not veneer, and was found by Pim Interior Design. The color is Smokey Walnut (brand or something – I have no idea). The benches are Fat Joe from Loods 5 in Royal Army livery. The rug on the floor is from HKliving, and the wall art was created for us by Renske Herder. The alcove features a lamp from Loods5, a vintage marble bookkeeper, and a selection of books. The shell lamp is from Atelier Uma.

The handles are Catchii.

The tap in the red niche in the hallway on the ground floor is accessible via these people Etsy. The red tiles via TopTiles and the red underneath is Bamboozle from Farrow and Ball. There is this cozy washbasin up. Glass lamp: Jotex, mirror: old / no idea what brand.

In the hallway downstairs there is a slanted 'checkerboard' pattern that we selected with the help of TopTegels.nl. NB: they are not listed there on the site, but I explained what I was looking for here and we ended up with this chocolate brown with terracotta pattern with an 'old', uneven finish. On the floor in the kitchen/living room are these tiles (Brick Mix via TopTegels.nl) On the walls in the long hallway this wallpaper from Arte Walls and the wainscoting has the color 'Farrow and Ball Cola. The cupboard contains a mix of tableware from HKliving, The Souks, Lenta Living and Sissy Boy Homeland.

Drawers were made under the window, also with handles of Catchii, The red is Valentine by LAB Paint. The sofa is upholstered in Palais fabric. A light beige striped rug by LX Matten covers the floor. A gray curtain by Numero74 hangs in the coat closet, and the café curtains are also shortened Numero74 curtains. Brocolli by Farrow & Ball is on the wall.

The light pink hangs from the ceiling Light bar van Manufactured (I see they have it in yellow now too! That's what I'd choose now).

This is a small extension next to the garden that we call 'the Nook': we wanted to have a so called breakfast nook create, a sunny spot to work, craft and of course have breakfast. The table is made of Raw Materials Amsterdam, the chairs of Kvik. The wooden bench seat was also made by Pim (if you have something custom-made, always make sure there is storage space everywhere!). Custom-made cushions from Palace, made by Atelier Grace. The loose cushions are a mix of Palais and Nox Studio.

The wall is decorated with wallpaper from Farrow and Ball (this) and this is the only place where there is a different shade of green on the woodwork, namely Green Stone, also from Farrow and Ball. The wall lamps are via Zara Home and the red circus lamp is Beauvamp (we have the medium – beware of the high import duties!)

See this reel for a fun inside look!

The beating heart of the garden is, of course, our Big Green Egg! Not so green, no, but in the very latest variant The Onyx, like the gemstone. And in the sunlight, our Big Green Friend still shines green.

The large black and white striped garden bench is HKLiving, as is the large parasol. The small 'pouf'-style chairs are the Barry from Loods5. On the floor is an outdoor rug from Volero. The color on the exterior wall was already there; you can find the color number. here.

I painted the garden sheds at the back in the color Blanca by Farrow and Ball.

The First Floor

Step up

Step up

On the stairs we have custom-made cladding from LX MatsThey do this on request and it makes such a huge difference!

On this floor we have "the apartment," a TV room, guest room, and office. Wall color: Diamond Dust by LAB paint, lies on the floor Impressive Parterns in Royal Oak from Carpetright.

The wooden slats are made of Mr. Jealousy

The pink pendant lamp is from Casa Gitane, but is no longer sold (although there is a lot of other beautiful stuff from this Dutch brand!). The artwork was made for us by Anne Mei Poppe. The bench is the Hyltarp from Ikea and a zebra cover from Bemz Design, the green seat is Ollie from Loods5. Behind the couch is a side table from Loods5, the Console Moses. Cushions: Palace,

The large mirror is an old one and comes with Shed5 from (I don't remember which brand), the painting in the reflection in the mirror was made by Cate Adriana (so it is not a print). On the woodwork of the pantry (also visible in the reflection) is Green Stone by Farrow and Ball. The chair is a design classic and was found for us by Atelier Uma (a very big tip for help in your home / in finding and / or scoring mid-century design. It is an original Soriana of Cassina  (vintage).

The pink/terracotta cabinet comes from our old house, was designed by ourselves and was made by a carpenter at the time, and reassembled here. The color of the cabinet is Farrow and Ball's MenagerieThis cupboard is located in what we call 'the apartment' (a TV room with pantry, large balcony and box bed on the first floor), see next block.

The box bed has also been painted in Hunter colour and wallpapered on the inside with this wallpaper From Sandberg Wallpaper (even more beautiful in person!). The ceiling light is from Karwei, the curtains are again from Numer74. The blue long cushions are from Essenza Home and the bedspread is from Khasto.

Picture perfect?

Picture perfect?

A small side note, because although the photos might suggest otherwise, there is also life here. By kids, by dogs, and by a bit of chaos. Think: traces of children's art, a dog bone here and there and pasta on the floor. And in between? The robot vacuum cleaner that does its regular round, as if it knows exactly when it needs to.

Eufy is, among robot vacuum cleaners, our personal favorite. And then in particular two types: Omni E28 and E25. The E28 comes with the FlexiOne™ Deep Cleaner: a removable deep-cleaning tool that makes it easy to get your couch, rug or car seat looking presentable again. Kinder chocolate on the cushions? Gone. Muddy paws on the armchair? Poof. That never happened. The E25 is the compact sister: the same specs, minus the removable cleaner — ideal for those who have slightly fewer demands but still want top quality.

Both models are equipped with: AI.See™ technology that recognizes more than 200 objects and neatly drives around them, 20.000 Pa Turbo Suction Power, a HydroJet™ System that mops with 1,5 kg of pressure and smart corner brushes that don't even miss that one edge next to the skirting board.

The floor was already there, we didn't do anything to it. The rug in her room is via The Souks. The curtains of Number 74. The light yellow canopy is also available, but I don't think they sell it anymore. The rack with the items is also old (no idea what brand). The pendant lamp is from George Stores, the cabinet from Ikea is painted in Rangwali by Farrow & Ball. The fish lamp is from Archive Store. Her crib is Vito's old Petit Amelie crib (also no longer sold).

Her entire room (walls and ceiling) are covered with this wallpaper from Little Green.

Vito's bedroom

Vito's bedroom

Vito has a green Auping bed, and the walls are painted in Limited Jade by LAB Paint. The bedside table is old (Loods5), with a lamp on top also from Loods5. The curtains are from Jotex, and the wooden blinds are Mr. Jealousy. We bought the balloon on the wall at Anna + Nina. The desk is IKEA, the office chair is Zara Home. The cabinets above the desk are our old kitchen cabinets (I can't remember the brand). Desk lamp: Ikea.

Bathroom and toilet kids

Bathroom and toilet kids

Once again, we bought practically everything at De Sanitairwinkel. The sinks are from another house that was being renovated nearby. The striped mirrors are from SissyBoy Homeland, and the pink cabinet is from HKliving.

Second floor

In the attic we have left the paneling of the old residents. This is our bedroom. The bath is from The Water Monolopy (it was the very first thing I bought for the house, the rest came around it ;-)). The black and white tiles are via Sanitary shop (just 10x10 white and 10x10 black and then laid in a checkerboard pattern), the curtains Numero74.

Color blue on the wall is Calm Mood by LAB PaintThe low chest of drawers is from HKLiving. The lamp base is from Lenta Living (but they don't make them anymore), the lampshade is Palace.

The amazing bed (comes in this print) is extra large and The Boxspring ClubOn the bed lies a side sleeper pillow (the long one) with a dusty pink cover and butter-yellow bedding of Yumeko.

The bathroom cabinet (blue with white top) is from The Classic House, the mirrors with wooden edges are from Karwei, the black lamps are from Zara Home.

(article continues after the photo)

In bed: Yumeko

In bed: Yumeko

And the bedding? We can be brief about that: YumekoAn Amsterdam brand that has been making bed linen and bath textiles the ethical way since 2010. All B Corp, Fairtrade, and GOTS certified. And that includes 100% organic cotton from a cooperative of small farmers in India, down from the Netherlands, and wool from France and Germany. No toxins, no hassle, no opaque supply chain. Founder Rob van den Dool (the same one who co-founded War Child Netherlands) started fifteen years ago with a clear goal: that sustainable bedding no longer has to feel like making compromises. Mission accomplished. The name? Yumeko is Japanese for 'dream child'. Appropriate, because as soon as that set is on your bed – we went for butter yellow and dusty pink – you won't want anything else. Good to know: the Consumers' Association named their 4-season duvet made of recycled down Best in Test, and that says something. Definitely go for a good mix-and-match: duvet cover in percale (that lovely crunchy hotel feel), a contrasting fitted sheet and an extra pillowcase in a different shade for editorial effect. The towels en bath matsYou'll make friends with that as a housewarming gift.

All the wardrobe cabinets were custom-made for Pim Interieurbouw and painted in Jackie Blue by LAB Paint. The bamboo handles are from Doing Goods. Lampshade: Anna Nina, white rug: Karwei, curtains: Numero74.

Upholstery of the bench: Palais, table: HKliving (old), lamp: Loods5, painting of the full moon: Amber de Vreng.

In addition to our bedroom with the bath, we have a separate shower and toilet room upstairs. The tiles on the floor and walls are Sanitary shop, the green-beige cupboard is HKLiving. The purple Loods5 table. The artwork (not a print) is Hotel Magique (from the first hour).

Outdoor

The color on the outside wall? No idea: it was already there 🙂 But you could do Nigiri from LAB Paint: it looks very similar. Ditto for the little-wimber-patterned sidewalk: it was already there. So no idea :).

The black and white striped sofa and the beautiful huge parasol are both from HKlivingThe slightly smaller dark blue striped parasol (can be easily taken with you because it is foldable + nice carrying bag) is from Business & Pleasure. The 'beanbag' style chairs (long and short) are the Barry from Loods5 (best value for money of our entire house). On the floor is an outdoor rug from Volero (this) (best regards quick fix tip; super sturdy and very beautiful).

House for sale?

House for sale?

Another great tip: Are you just looking for a new home and want to sell your current one for a substantial sum? Then you'll want to contact specialists in home staging.Kalter & Kalter it is.

The stylists at Kalter & Kalter know exactly what it takes to create the perfect "home" feeling. They do this with a personal, stylish, yet neutral touch, so potential buyers can easily picture themselves living there. After all, few things are harder than seeing through existing furnishings—let alone breathing life into an empty home yourself. So, three cheers for the knowledgeable people who can take care of that for you.

It goes without saying that your home will then sell or rent faster; and you'll likely (almost) recognize your own house after a visit from Kalter & Kalter. And, what you should also know: Kalter & Kalter's home staging immediately results in a higher sales price... And it's true (we're not making this up; the statistics prove it).
