Self-designed and built: Casa Lua in the Portuguese Algarve

Why buy a house if you can build it yourself? Because yes, you can. In any case, as a carpenter - or rather: furniture maker - you can get a long way. Although the outside of Lua House in the Portuguese Algarve, a lot of the inside was renovated and remodeled by Pim and Gwenda themselves. With results. And so now it is time to rent out the cabin. Tadaa!

Lua House

Casa Lua is located on top of a mountain (don't worry, the Uber stops right outside) Querença, a village just above Loulé in the Portuguese Algarve. Casa Lua has two apartments: Casa Lua 4 and Casa Lua 6. Casa Lua 4 has two bedrooms and is suitable for four people, Casa Lua 6 has three and is suitable for six people. The beds - including the bunk bed - are long enough for Dutch legs and nice and spacious. Another advantage of doing your own carpentry. If you book Casa Lua 10 (because 4 + 6 = 10, as a carpenter you have to be able to count well), you have the entire house at your disposal.

Team work makes the dream work

Team work makes the dream work

Anyone who thinks that people who go to Portugal only relax and lie in the sun is wrong. In and around Casa Lua there was a lot of tinkering and carpentry. Gwenda made the design, Pim realized it. Team work makes the dream work. Almost everything made of wood, including the kitchen, cabinets, bathroom furniture and headboards, was made by Pim. A large part of the woodwork was painted in powdery (but certainly not frumpy) pink tones and complemented with gold accents. A nice combination.

The good life

The good life

Although Portugal is not all about relaxing, there is of course plenty of room to enjoy the good life. Especially when you are on holiday. Faro airport is half an hour away, as is Albufeira and the beach. However, you don't have to get in the car to cool down because there is also a swimming pool (with outdoor shower) in the garden. Furthermore, there is a jeu de boules court, playground, golf course and vineyard nearby. In Querença itself you can join the local bar or the local restaurant, in Loulé there is more choice. Of course you can also cook "at home", in such a beautiful kitchen it is extra cozy.
