The very first Vietnamese Bahn Mi Shop: VIÊN

Hey hello VIEN! Who? VIEN. That's new at Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat 12H and VIÊN has been doing her thing there since the end of February 2022. That thing? VIÊN is Vietnamese Banh Mi Shop which makes it the very first in Amsterdam (West). Ha! The founders are Gevanny and Vi, an Amsterdam couple with Vietnamese roots and a great passion for Vietnamese cuisine. You might already know Gevanny... He worked for years as a manager at another favorite: Pllek. With VIÊN, you immediately know that things are really good. The menu is accessible to everyone, vegetarian, non-vegetarian and everything in between. Would you like to take a look and taste something at this new trendy tent? Do! VIÊN is open on Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00 a.m. to 18.00 p.m. for take away or at a cozy table in the shop.

VIÊN is a Vietnamese Banh Mi Shop. Banh mi' what? This literally means 'bread' in Vietnamese. It is a type of bread from Vietnamese cuisine, based on the French baguette. The Vietnamese version of the baguette is prepared fresh daily at VIÊN using a traditional recipe that has been in the family for years.

At VIÊN, a lot of care has been taken to create a simple menu that is accessible to everyone. This has been achieved with Halal chicken and beef, vegan tofu and vegan faux chicken and gluten-free products. For example, with the aforementioned meat (substitutes) you can choose a Banh mi, spring rolls and/or noodle salad bowls. Of course, classic Vietnamese drinks such as Vietnamese iced coffee, avocado smoothie and lemon soda are indispensable at a Vietnamese Banh mi Shop.

V.Chau co-founder VIÊN: “We would like to introduce people to street food from Vietnam through our food. The real work is not yet sufficiently available in Amsterdam. With our recipes that come from my grandmother and father, we hope to change this and properly represent authentic Vietnamese cuisine.".
