The Gyros Club, The Hague
You will find it new on the corner of the Grote Markt and Schoolstraat The Hague recently the Gyros Club. Velvet couches, pink neon letters and hysterical cocktails, Greek who?
While several restaurants have passed this spot in a relatively short time, they are now Greek street food and pink neon letters that will make it happen on this corner. By the way, a corner where you can sit on the terrace in the summer and which also includes a nice part of the Grote Markt. Always pleasant. At the Gyros Club you have two options, spread over two floors. Downstairs there are round velvet green sofas around large round tables where you can eat a pita gyros with a whole group. Can be composed entirely according to your own wishes, so make your own favorite Greek combination. On the ground floor there is a menu in Greek cafeteria style, but a cafeteria with a slightly chic interior, including a shiny bar.
Upstairs you will not find green but pink velvet, and the famous pink neon letters that many instagirlwill make your heart beat faster. Fuck social media, I'm dope in real life, the somewhat ironic text stands out. That requires it (see the Gyros Clubs tagged posts on Instagram). The interior of the Gyros Club was designed by the Horecafabriek, which we know from their work at the Amsterdam and The Hague Mama Kelly and Meddens in Hilversum (we see one there millennial pink cartridge?). That style is clearly reflected in the Gyros Club, and it certainly doesn't look out of place. We remain fans of pink interior and green jungle wallpaper. On this pink floor on the map? To be honest, you have to try a little harder to discover something Greek here, although we did share delicious snacks such as chicken dumplings and fried asparagus. Also squid, although it was a bit tough, but the tasty fries quickly made up for that. Further on the menu there are more snacks to share, such as a sashimi pizza made of pita-like bread or a vegetarian version with vegetarian gyros (hey! Greek!). Top it off with a fancy cocktail (the Greek owner's right hand is a professional cocktail shaker) and you can enjoy yourself with a view of the Grote Markt. Thursday evening is an extra party, because then you order those cocktails for €6. Such as one of the specialties of the Gyros Club: the Dragon King cocktail, which is served hidden under a bell jar full of smoke and is only revealed at your table. This gives the pornstar martini-like cocktail a smoky flavor, and your... instagram a spectacular post. Is that what we do it all for? No, we're dope in real life, give us that well-filled gyro sandwich. But instagame or not: the Gyros Club has it completely under control.
