MaMa Kelly, Amsterdam
We were already there with the opening in 2017 and are still fans: MaMa Kelly in Amsterdam. It's pink, it's big and it's a good place to be, we can tell you. We would of course prefer to sit inside, but until then the takeaway boxes are certainly not a punishment. My favorite is the high tea box; Nice if you also have that flamingo teapot, but that was a step too far for us at home.
Let's start with the interior. Not to be overlooked: it is pink. The floors, the walls, the ceilings, the furniture. Everything except – spoiler alert – the toilets and the view over the red racetracks and green training field. It has given the owners some nightmares to get the right color – one beautiful shade of old pink – properly matched in all materials. Not too sweet or too loud, but cozy and warm. Alternated with warm wood, brass and plant green. A palette that is then used slightly differently across the four floors. A little tighter, a little burlesquer, what more crabby. And yet they all meet the requirement of a cozy dining experience. The niches around cozy to have a drink, the bar stools to stroll with your pink cocktail and the benches at the table to never want to leave. It made us wonder a bit whether a group of dining men would also feel at home here. But you will be surprised. Date material is MaMa Kelly Amsterdam anyway. After a visit you can Sketch in London immediately a bit lower on you bucketlist. come to be. Although the inspiration comes before it all pink from across the ocean by the way Pietro NoLita from New York. We think it's a nice fact.
Yes, it is hysterical and it is a hype - which does not really suit The Hague no bullshit Kelly's men – but foodwise is it good there? Very good. The right basic dishes are on the menu and are served with their own flair. Chestnuts in the pumpkin soup, truffle in the egg yolk of the steak tartare and burrata with a delicious creamy avocado cream. MaMa Kelly's signature is chicken and lobster. Both very tender, beautifully served and topped with more flavor of your choice. Recommended in our opinion; the spicy chicken. Not too spicy, but it does give a nice kick to your browned chicken. Mama Kelly doesn't just have chicken and lobster. There are about twenty starters – about ten of which are vegetarian – and about ten choices such as the galenics not your thing. Furthermore, the Par Hasard fries are yummy, the homemade (?) mayo is to die for and the bread is worth eating just a little too much.
They serve good coffee from the pink coffee machine and a cup of tea experience. You will understand that if you ordered it yourself. There are almost 200 seats in a tip-top, impressive catering concept and we take our hats off to you. See you again soon MaMa Kelly Amsterdam!
