The vast majority of people we know have a Kobo Libra. As far as we are concerned, the older models are already very nice. The most recent version is the Kobo Libra Color. Book covers, illustrations and your own notes get colour. The slight curvature on the slightly wider side makes this e-reader feel comfortable in your hand. You can turn the pages using the buttons or by tapping the screen. The 7 inch screen has no glare from the sun and reduces the blue light for your eyes. For the bath readers among us: this Kobo is waterproof. A nice detail is that the e-reader is made from recycled plastic that was on its way to the sea. Oh yes, and then we forgot to mention that you can also listen to audiobooks on the Kobo Libra Colour.

The biggest advantage of a Kindle is that the price of the reader lies a little lower. The fast Kindle Paperwhite is €179 (or €199 for the colored back) and has a 7 inch screen that is anti-reflective and can change in light and heat. The New Kindle is €119 and has a 6 inch screen. We like the colored, matcha green cover of this small Kindle.

Note: With Kobo you can buy individual books (via Bol and Amazon, among others), take out a subscription to Kobo (€11,99 per month) or take out a cheap subscription via the Online Library (€42 per year). If you buy a Kindle, you can only buy individual books via Amazon. Amazon also works with the subscription service Kindle Unlimited, but that is apparently not available in the Netherlands and only through VPN to use.
