Favorite in Haarlem: Frenchie Haarlem
It was only when the temperature dropped that we sat down for an extensive dinner. Only then? Yes. Only then. Our loss as it turned out; Apparently we should have done that much earlier. Because although the cozy living room-likeness of Frenchie Haarlem, and the name of the tent, named after the breed of the owners' four-legged friend, also put us on the wrong track: you don't just come here for a quick weekday bite, no, you can really enjoy your dining experience. Ha! You didn't see that coming, did you? Neither do we.
First let's go back to the origins of all that coziness: Frenchie is really an address for all day, every day. Cozy corners for long hanging sessions, good coffee (White Label), a juice bar with incredibly tasty fresh juices (really fresh, not that fake fresh - I always have a really bad appetite), sweet cake and cake and a healthy lunch with attention to the tasty ones. slightly less healthy appetite that causes choice stress. Oh, you already left?
So those are the things you immediately think of when you think about Frenchie Haarlem thinks. Really good for all day. Especially during the day. We endorse that with all our love and pleasure: no problem can be missed. But we would also like to make a case for Frenchie Haarlem's evening menu. The caretaker child perhaps (who knows, maybe I'm wrong! But that's what I got). Shame. Because in that living room on the Gedempte Oude Gracht, chef Tim Eleveld (he worked at Le Restaurant, among others, and together with his girlfriend Lisa they opened Frenchie) cooks truly mega-superb food. Like this. You can (we would) just start with a plate full of delicious oysters, the good & old school kid. Then switch to a three-course menu from the chef or you can choose a la carte. Everything is possible, although we highly recommend letting the chef do his thing. There's a good chance that Tim will serve you his delicious Pulpo Konro, with crustacean, lovage, preserved tomato and lobster gravy (copy-paste from the menu, we can't remember it all. We know it's tasty).

Tim and Lisa think about the vegetarians among us and do it astonishingly well: there is a veggie salad cream of goat cheese and sweet potato that looks as beautiful as it tastes. But there's also a great Côte de Boeuf to share, for anyone on the other side of the food coin. I could go on and on here, but the point is that we tasted everything and were just really impressed. Just take a look, you will agree that we are right.
Oh, and we also love this: (1) Taco Tuesday on Tuesday (yo). Big tip. But really. And then this: (2) the Frenchie Wine Masterclass! You can join us for one on Sunday, February 3 masterclass Italian wines by 'Master of Wine Cees van Casteren' and then dine from a suitable menu. Does that cost? €79,00 pp. excluding wines during dinner, including Presentation, tasting and dinner. Frenchie Haarlem
