Bonjour Grammes, oh wonderful pastry shop in Amsterdam
We cannot believe our happiness with such a wonderful thing as Grams! Chief Maxime Papin finally chose to settle in our beloved Amsterdam after learning everything in both New York if it heavenly Paris. Papin was originally trained in hospitality, but he soon knew that his heart lay elsewhere and so he went from front of house back into that kitchen. Are we happy with that...
Ultimately, you learn everything best from your mother. This also applies to Maxim, who has mastered the tricks of the trade from an early age – with the French stroke of course. His baked goods are anything but average, because they have a Key or get Maxime along. Things like that just happen when you grow up in France, but also take in the culinary world of New York. With if signature the cappuccino tart, made with quality coffee from one of our favorites in Amsterdam: White Label. The crumbly cookie dough is filled with sponge cake that has been swimming in a bath of coffee syrup, a creamy coffee ganache, a beautiful hazelnut praline (both in taste and formal and casual looks) and finally topped with a mascarpone cream. And you know, even that drop of caramel that they used to keep the cake in the middle of the golden plate during transport gave a taste sensation that made you 'Oh, mon Dieu' exclaims.
A disadvantage to Grammes? Much is on pre-order and may therefore not be available if you decide to come in spontaneously. A case of better planning and therefore ordering enough in advance. And that will be fine with such an offer: chocolate croissants, mille feuille, cookies, even a home-made granola. Order it, order it, order it!
