Instock's Big Beer Dinner! (at the new Chez Miné in Amsterdam)

Instock's Big Beer Dinner! (at the new Chez Miné in Amsterdam)

This is news that makes you happy: a new beer and a new one hotspot. Of course we had to know the ins and outs of that. Instock (which ensures that leftover fruit and vegetables get a second life) and Chez Mine (a brand new restaurant on the Danzigerkade in Amsterdam) have joined forces and this has resulted in The Big Beer Dinner. That means as much as a three-course dinner alternated with short ones talks from the organizers, so that you are informed about what is on your plate. Besides your beer, that is.

The Big Beer Dinner

The Big Beer Dinner

We wrote above about The Big Beer Dinner before, and we wouldn't be Barts Boekje if we didn't also report on it. Then it feels like you were somewhat there. Because what was it like? And above all: who's the new kid in town? We can be brief about this: that is 'angry beer', a fruity wheat beer made from raspberries. A worthy successor to the existing piper and bammetjes beer if you ask us. Now we are not the greatest connoisseurs when it comes to beer, but we know what we like, and so this fresh bottle is a nice addition.

But the evening involved more than just the unveiling of the beer: of course we joined in Instock for three courses full of rescued food. Okay, four, if you count the appetizer. Long tables, candles and good company alternated with short speeches about the ins and outs of the food and beers. From an appetizer with cauliflower to a main course of potato and pumpkin, just about every vegetable was discussed. And it was tasty too. Once we arrived at dessert, we had already consumed more beer than normal in a month and the angry beer had yet to come, but we are very happy with this discovery.

That makes it easy to choose the next sunny terrace.

And now? If you don't mind, visit InStock sometime to save some food and, above all, taste a lot of beer. You won't hurt anyone with it and god, it's so tasty.
