It's not just Osaka Huge, but with 436 rooms, OMO7 Osaka (part of Hoshino Resorts) also holds its own. With a bit of luck, you might secure a room on one of the top floors (it goes up to the fourteenth floor). So don't expect a boutique hotel, but rather a clean and pleasant base for a reasonable price. You won't have to lug your belongings around for long; OMO7 Osaka is located directly opposite JR Shin-Imamiya Station, and from there you can be in other cities or at the airport in no time. The entrance is also grand; an escalator takes you up to the open lobby overlooking the hotel garden. The hot spring bathhouse is located in that garden (you are in Japan for a reason, after all), and the kids can run around on the field. You can work comfortably at the large table with power outlets (yes, excellent Wi-Fi). Furthermore, in that lobby you will find seating areas (plenty of them), a library, a cafe, and dining area (we will come back to that later) and a cupboard where you can get things. Can you grab it? Yes, you'll find just about everything you need for your stay: a yukata, footwear, toothbrush, and other essentials for your room.

Ah, those rooms. Let's start by saying that they are all great, although there is of course some distinction. The most standard is the twin room: a modern room and all the comfort you need. We build up slowly, because next comes the DanDan Room with a bunk bed and a versatile living room. Last best is the IDOBATA Suite, which can accommodate up to six guests. In this room, you can call it an apartment, you will find four beds, a large living room with sofas and a large table. You can sleep like a prince, and have breakfast too. For that you can go to the café (order the Japanese omelette sandwich there anyway) or to the extensive buffet area (where you will encounter more Japanese breakfasts). Good start to the day.

The crème de la crème of the hotel are the free tours that you can experience in the city as a hotel guest. An OMO Ranger (a nice word for a hotel employee), who knows the neighborhood like the back of his hand, will take you along. For example, we took part in a tour of the Shinsekai district (where this hotel is located). In an hour we saw the Tsutenkaku tower and the Janjan Yokocho shopping area. Oh, and we knew where we were going to eat that night. They also have other tours, such as a tour where you can learn more about the dashi or broth culture of Kansai, a tour of the best kushikatsu (fried skewers of meat and vegetables) or a talk about the tips and tricks of nearby Universal Studios Japan .
