Tenerife Travel Guide: the best and nicest hotels in Tenerife

Voila, part II of our Tenerife Travel Guide (or I, or III or IV - depending on which order you are reading of course): the finest and nicest hotels in Tenerife. Because the largest island of the Canary Islands is perhaps best known for its white beaches, water sports and all all inclusive resorts, but the beautiful sunny coasts of Tenerife also offer tranquility, heavenly views and places to pamper yourself. Where should you go? For example, at one of these nicest hotels:

Abama Resort

Abama Resort

Abama Resort is a hidden gem on the south-west coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife, with three 5-star hotels (including the Ritz-Carlton) and several exclusive second homes. Abama Hotels offers a complete (yes, all the trimmings) hotel formula in Las Terrazas de Abama Suites and in Los Jardines de Abama Suites, where you can also discover the exclusive Villas del Tenis. The resort has no fewer than 12 restaurants, two of which have Michelin stars. Plenty of choice, if we say so ourselves. A game of golf on the 18-hole golf course, tennis on one of the seven tennis courts or four pearl courts is also possible. Then you can enjoy the luxurious spa and settle in at the Beach Club. From the resort you have a beautiful view of the green palm trees, the gardens, the number of swimming pools and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Sounds like a treat, right?

Boutique hotel San Roque

Boutique hotel San Roque

In the village of Garachico you will find the beautiful eighteenth-century, terracotta-colored mansion Boutique hotel San RoqueThe city is often busy in the mornings, but in the evenings you can relax in the central square with a drink in your hand. And... If you're looking for ultimate peace and quiet, San Roque is the place to be. the place to be. The rooms have beautiful wooden floors and furniture by Charles Rennie Mackintosh – a famous Scottish architect. Oh, and deep bathtubs. We love them. There's also an outdoor pool where you can dip your toes in the water and bask in the sun. And there's delicious food in the Anuturium M restaurant.uy bien, si.

Duke's Bay

Duke's Bay

We love Tenerife because of the nice temperatures, the beautiful coast and the cute towns. But that's not all. You can also enjoy good stargazing here. Especially fun to do in the observatory Duke's Bay where you can see no less than 83 of the 88 constellations at night. You can also enjoy yourself here with the kids. How about splashing around in the azure blue sea, relaxing at the wellness, trying out different restaurants and bars and much more fun? And after watching the sunset, you can retreat to your own nest. Between colorful flowers and green palm trees you will find 40 chic villas. The villas have a fresh look with patio doors to the private pool. But we think the best part is that you sleep in beautiful four-poster beds in white linen. Or of course the spa that belongs to the hotel (but has its own name, namely: Bahía Wellness Retreat)

Gran Hotel Taoro

Gran Hotel Taoro

When the Gran Hotel opened in Puerto de la Cruz in 1890, it was big, bigger, biggest, surrounded by gardens and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. BAM, it was the first large luxury hotel in Spain, and overnight Tenerife became a popular winter destination for the European elite. Guests included King Alfonso XIII and writer Agatha Christie. In 1975, the hotel rooms closed, and the building was given a second life as a casino. The casino remained open until 2006; after that, the iconic building stood empty for years.

Now, after a major renovation, the hotel is back. And how! The monumental facades, stately staircases, and characterful lounges have been carefully restored, and the interior has been updated to meet the expectations of a modern five-star hotel. There are 199 rooms and suites where you can sleep like a prince. Six restaurants have opened in the hotel, some of which are helmed by top chefs. Restaurant OKA, for example, combines Japanese haute cuisine with Mediterranean influences and revolves around the omakase concept, while Amalur translates Spanish cuisine into modern, refined dishes.

For those who want to recharge, there's the Sandára Wellness Centre: a wellness area developed in collaboration with French skincare brand Anne Semonin, featuring treatment rooms, saunas, steam baths, and various showers. Outside, there are three heated swimming pools and spacious terraces with views of the Atlantic Ocean, the island's volcanic mountains, and, on clear days, the iconic Mount Teide.

It features an extensive thermal circuit with saunas, a Turkish bath, aromatherapy, hydromassage tubs, and relaxation areas where you can simply unwind. Those who want to treat themselves can book a treatment: from Ayurvedic massages to hot stone rituals and detox programs. The spa overlooks beautiful tropical gardens.

In between relaxing, you can enjoy a long lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants, take a yoga class or work out in the fitness room.

The Ritz Carlton Tenerife, Abama

The Ritz Carlton Tenerife, Abama

If you really want to get away from it all and feel the need to pamper yourself, then The Ritz Carlton Tenerife, Abama the way to go. This bright pink five-star hotel is not only super beautiful, but is also fun with the kids. There is a real kids club where the children are kept busy all day long, while the parents enjoy the spa facilities or a gym session. Or of course a nice glass of wine on the beach. Kudos. Oh and we almost forgot the Bach Care to be mentioned. That would be shameful: wOn the premises you will also find the cardiovascular disease prevention center (quite a mouthful: but it concerns cardiovascular care) and that is quite good, well... An unusual combination.

In the verd green north of Tenerife, in relaxed Puerto de la Cruz, lies a hotel where you really only need one plan: to relax. The five-star Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden is one of those places where you immediately slow down upon arrival. No rush here, but plenty of wellness.

Those who want to do it right can book a treatment: from Ayurvedic massages to hot stone rituals and detox programs.

Another nice touch: the spa overlooks tropical gardens, giving you the feeling of being in the middle of a tranquil oasis – while actually being in Tenerife. And that's precisely the charm of this place: it's a hotel that's not just about sleeping, but above all about recharging.

In between relaxing, you can enjoy a long lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants, take a yoga class, or work out in the fitness room. But let's be honest: chances are you'll mostly be stuck in the spa circuit.
