Now that autumn finally (very, very slowly!) seems to be making its entrance on Ibiza, and we can no longer/want to splash around in a different bay every day, we thought it would be fun to look a little further than the length of that bay... Hence: Ibiza interior/ art/ design stores - part 1.

It has long been clear that the island is a great place to shop for colourful clothing and jewellery, but you can also indulge yourself in interior and design. Take the road between Santa Gertrudis and Ibiza Town, not the first road that comes to mind when you think of a 'shopping street', but the observant passer-by will have noticed: the most beautiful interior design shops, vintage shops, antique dealers and galleries are hidden here.

A case that most likely did not go unnoticed by most of us; you can't really ignore it. Outside, a herd of blue cows (yes really) is laughing at you, so they got you at hello. Quite an impressive whole when you come here for the first time, that has to be said. But don't expect the rustic, serene Ibiza boho style that you know from this island (the blue cows already gave that away, but we want to say it again). The More The Better is what Sluiz is all about. In this large hall, arty installations with life-size brightly colored statues and stacked attributes form the decor for their exuberant collection of tableware, clothing, shoes, accessories and furniture. The restaurant is currently in complete Andrea Bocelli atmosphere, including a ceiling full of immense chandeliers, uber-kitsch paintings on the walls and of course maestro himself blaring from the speakers. An experience it is.

Continuing on the road towards Ibiza town you will soon come across a logo with a big bright pink elephant on your right. Then you have arrived at:

La Galeria Elefante Concept Store
You feel like you are entering a treasure trove as soon as you enter this 17th century old finca. The collection is truly an impressive collection of authentic products from all over the world. Art, antiques, vintage designer clothing, carpets, accessories, toys, books and gifts. Mostly local, artisanal, unique handmade products, all inspired by -as they call it- 'far travels, love and worldwide beauty'. Beautiful, isn't it?

Continue a little further on this road and you will find (with - really - the logo of an orange starfish (it looks like an animal quartet here!):

Tanis
This stylish shop is run by an interior designer duo from Austria. They sell exceptionally beautiful products in rich natural materials in warm, soft earth tones. Textiles seem to be their specialty because you will find many products such as cushion covers, rugs and curtains. In addition, there are also fabrics on the roll for sale from fabric houses from all over the world, including Piere Frey and Dedar. They also (re)upholster themselves. In addition to textiles, Tanis also has a refined collection of furniture, ceramics, lamps and other accessories. The duo can also be hired for interior styling jobs and design projects, if you are in a hurry.

Right at the end, just before you reach the intersection to the main road, you have another little gem on the right corner:

Papua
A small shop, quite stuffed with large furniture such as cabinets and benches, to smaller products including vases, pots, room dividers, mirrors and stools. Think of a mix of art, curiosities, tribal art, statues and weathered woodwork with peeling paintwork in full deep colours from Africa and Asia.
