Ibiza interior/ art/ design stores – part 2: From Sant Joan to Santa Eularia

This week we were on the (interior) trail again Ibiza, and this time we are in the north-east of Ibiza been. The more we drive around this island, the more 'design' stores we come across. 'Design' in quotation marks because to be honest, they don't all make us equally greedy... We see quite a bit of the (boring) same, or just too much of what we consider to be 'nicely crazy' (think of benches made of stuffed seals, large golden rhino heads for your wall, bumper car seats (and I'll leave it at that, because really, you don't wanna know where we bombed into...)

Anyways, you have to do your best to pick out the gems, but we assure you: then you'll have something! Voila: Ibiza interior/ art/ design stores - part 2: From Sant Joan to Santa Eularia

Barts Boekje - Los Otros Ibiza

The others

Okay, this might not be the biggest one right away products tip of the island, but you don't want to miss it: Los Otros is located on a corner in the middle of the village of Sant Joan. Dutch Mirjam and her husband Nicolaas started a concept store/vegetarian restaurant/hip hang-out here last spring. You can go there for unique interior pieces (think Moroccan handmade bed covers, unique porcelain and funny lamps), fashion (among others Amator, Anecdote, Love Stories), kids fashion (among others Grey Label), jewelry, gifts, books and art. But there is much more entertainment here:

In the summer this terrace is the absolute place to be with delicious coffees, cocktails and veggie meals, live music and kids entertainment. But even now that the high season is over, the Los Trosjes are not sitting still: on Friday afternoon the owners organize 'El borrel' in Dutchie style, and in the weekends 'El dinner' (veggie dinner parties). You can also go to the hairdresser and even do your workouts! So you basically never have to leave here...

If you do decide to do this, continue on the road from Sant Joan to Eivissa/Santa Eularia, because you will come across many more beautiful things:

Bart's Booklet - Mon Chateau

My Chateau in Spain

Just past the petrol station you will find a small cosy shop on your right with a cheerfully coloured kind of totem pole in front of the door. This French "chateau(tje)" is somewhat hidden, but once you have it in sight, you will not rest until you have stopped there once: from the outside you can see immediately that it is worth a visit. Inside you will find a large vintage walhalla with the cosiest armchairs, mid-century lamps, Hermes scarves, original rattan garden furniture and leather design chairs.

The owner is a charming French couple: He personally buys all the antiques and vintage design classics you find here (everything originally comes from France), and then brings his finds to 'his castle' on the island. She runs the palace, which he continuously supplements with new pieces.

NEW IN TOWN & ALMOST OPEN!:

The Surf House - by IBIZA INTERIORS

Ibiza Interiors was founded by the ambitious and enthusiastic Dutch interior architect Jurjen van Hulzen. In addition to running two successful companies in Amsterdam; architectural firm Standart (clients such as Marqt, The Cold Pressed Juicery, Ace & Tate Antwerp) and design furniture store 'Modern Vintage' in de Pijp, he decided 2 years ago to also start on the island. Ibiza Interiors has since grown into a 'full service' company, and helps both developers and private individuals to realize their dream project on Ibiza.

But there's more!

Because at the moment Jurjen is very busy with his new 'baby', namely: his own shop annex studio on the island, which will be called 'The Surf House'. And YEAH - we are happy with that! Because we think that this place (apart from its delicious merchandise) could become very nice... this space will radiate the real 'island life' feeling. As if you are entering someone's Ibicenco living room, so to speak... You can also go there for a cup of coffee, or just to admire the changing art on the walls. And there will also be regular events. (perhaps nice to combine with an evening at Balafia? (another classic) This nice authentic restaurant is located right behind it and is open all winter!)

But anyway, we digress...

Back to the shop: because in this cool, sleek space Jurjen sells (hopefully before the end of this year) stylish, fresh design furniture and vintage classics (think Eames, Carl Hanson, Herman Miller, Coco-Mat), but also beautiful unique design carpets from younger Dutch design brands, such as the contemporary designs from WDSTCK and Weltevree. That sounds great, right?! We'll keep you definitely posted!

(and oh yes, these busy bees have also been running the awesome B&B 'Ibiza campo', in the same style of course, but more about that later)

Bart's Booklet - ksar

KSAR living

If you have an entire house to furnish, from bathroom tiles to cushion covers, you've come to the right place at KSAR. From granite sinks made by local craftsmen to unique hand-painted tiles from Bali. From special furniture designed and developed by KSAR itself to unique tribal finds. In addition, of course, an extensive collection and inspiring mix of accessories from all regions of the world (think Bali, India, Africa), including rugs, lamps, art, ceramics and beautiful decorative unique pieces.

But also take a look at the rooms downstairs.

There you will find, among other things, a large exhibition space where varied art exhibitions are presented. If you wander down even further, you will end up in a large storage room, full of everything, so to speak: eccentric chairs, wooden facades, vintage doors, large pots, wonderful to wander through. The combination of the different styles and cultures that are curated and selected here with great taste and are also presented with courage, makes this store a refreshing experience on the island. It is not without reason that the owners are often hired for special interior projects, such as the stylish GIRI cafe & residence in Sant Joan, for example, from their hand.
