Good Italian food at Terra Nova in Limburg, Roermond
From pasta to risotto, Yes Yes Yes. Come on. Of course we prefer to travel to Italy to eat Italian food, but when we are in the Netherlands, we choose the best pearls. So that you imagine yourself in Italy. We heard about the little birds (thank you thank you!) about this Italian in the south of our country and traveled there. And then lick our fingers with all that food. Where oh where you against being? Bee Terra Nova in Roermond, Central Limburg.
Roermond (in Limburgish: Remunj, you score points here) is located on the rivers Roer & Maas. It is characterized by a maze of centuries-old streets and alleys. And the rudder quay has been the grateful epicenter of the city for centuries. Since 2022, Terra Nova has been housed on a side street of this rudder quay – on the Koolstraat, to be precise. From the outside, Terra Nova is a beautiful sight to behold and here you can sit in the sun on the narrow terrace when the summer months have arrived. The inside is full of coziness & romance. This is where you go for an evening of dining with your favorite person. Red velvet chairs, stained glass windows, dark and dim corners and an amazing (artificial) tree in the middle of the restaurant provide the right ingredients for a Romantic Evening. With capital letters yes. Imagine that a playlist of Italian music is playing in the background – without it getting too cheesy – and voilà: don't do anything about it anymore, we thought.
If you love classic Italian cuisine, you go to Terra Nova. Not a pizzeria (and therefore no pizzas on the menu), but delicious food. For your Italian cravings. What is on that menu? Linguine vongole (with red pepper, parsley and of course lots of garlic), scorfano con pepperonata (or: redfish fillet) and ossobuco alla milanse (softly cooked veal shank). Don't forget to start with the burrata salad (to die for) and end with a formaggi Nizet (cheese board from the famous cheese shop in Roermond). Which you can easily stick on your hips, but hey... who complains about that in an Italian restaurant? In fact, all the dishes that we love from Italian cuisine are on the menu. Don't panic if you feel the stress of choice coming on; everything is invariably good and delicious. We got insured. So cannimisses. A black? If you have a choice, go on a Thursday. We shout: seafood Thursday. Every last Thursday of the month you can enjoy fresh fish, crustaceans and shellfish. Don't forget to order a bottle of red or white from the wine wall (a real wine wall, yes) and finish with a homemade grappa.
Terra Nova is a delicious Italian restaurant, which is a nice addition in the middle of Roermond. All year round. Book in advance to be assured of a spot little birds have done their job well and Terra Nova is popular. Which we get.
