New and magically beautiful: B&B Kasteel Baexem, Baexem (Central Limburg)
B&B Kasteel Baexem in – it's in the name Baexem is a special and unique castle that was built in the seventeenth centurye century it was built in the thirteenthecentury ancestral home of a real knightly family. Quite a mouthful, but what you should definitely remember: go to this hidden gem in Central Limburg. It is so magically beautiful here. Soooo, off to Baexem. Shall we?
A young (and extremely hospitable) couple bought Baexem Castle in 2020. Originally from The Hague, but COVID made them do it: leaving the city behind to make the dream come true in a small Limburg village. Now, in June 2021, the Bed and Breakfast open after the couple gathered dust for months. You can currently book four rooms in the castle and outside there is an idyllic country house for rent, all with a private bathroom. What about that? for free get extra? A botanical castle garden, including its own chapel (say what?!), swimming pond (also perfect in winter for a dip for the die hards) a hidden gypsy wagon with hot tub (still under renovation), (bee) greenhouse, chickens (who provide the fresh eggs for breakfast) and an outdoor gym. There is also a bar where you can have a drink (or more) and a wonderful vaulted wine cellar, dating from the twelfth century.e century. Picture a long wooden table surrounded by good wine and plop down in front of one wine-tasting. Need we say more?
The interior of the castle exudes allure. The owners kept the authentic details, but with the comfort of the 21st centurye century. Such as wonderful beds, a good rain shower and everything styled. So everything to love. Fun fact: the murals in the music hall - where you sit down for an organic, vegetarian breakfast with regional products after a wonderful night - are from the famous Dutch painter Matthijs Röling. While sipping a good red wine from the wine cellar, the music hall is full of people Huge fireplace also the perfect place to retreat in the evening. Stare at the crackling fire for a while.
If you want to get away from the castle - which we can't imagine - and explore the surroundings: go to the White Pearl (aka Thorn) of Limburg. A (we almost dare not say it) designer outlet in Roermond or walk through the Limburg landscape and learn something about the rich past and cultural legacies of this region. Finally, the possibilities are endless: plenty to do in this central part of Limburg.
We can think of dozens of reasons why you should wander to this castle and describe in words how beautiful everything is here, but just enjoy the images and go see it in real life. Sometimes things cannot be put into words. So very worthwhile.
