Kids to go: Adinda van Kuijk reveals her favorite kid-proof places
We love a new 'discover-your-place' or an old favorite and that's why we stamp it Kids to Go of us nice and full. With what? The (sometimes literally) tastiest places to brave all the children's stuff, the nicest home entertainment, fun things to keep the little ones entertained and the best of the best tips to fill in some extra bonus time. Because it's easy? Coming up with children's entertainment?
High time indeed to collect tips from fellow humans, who - just like us - eagerly collect places to exhaust this category without any worries. Time for a question and answer session, and believe us, it came: the favorite places in the Netherlands, where the children can simply go. We quickly came around to that Adinda van Kuijk out. Not at least because this pretty mom is, well, mom (of two adorable mini girls), but also because she knows how to tell us the really nice places to go with her little ones. And we wouldn't say that if it weren't the case. It comes, the best tip, straight from the collection archive of Adinda van Kuijk:
In the middle of the Amstelveld (which we all affectionately call 't Amstelveldje) - yes, exactly, in that white building - is located Brasserie Nel. We don't have to say much about the location, a wonderful part of Amsterdam, between the most beautiful canals. But Brasserie Nel itself is also worth a visit, especially if you want to sit down with the kids. The menu is extensive enough for everyone (including customized portions for the little ones) and everything is prepared responsibly as much as possible, so that delicious and healthy dishes are served. Guilt-free, precisely. Before, during or after dinner, the playing field next to Brasserie Nes beckons to the kids, where they can roll in the sandbox and run across the football field and climb and clamber on the climbing frame. Party.
Can't wait to discover the menu of Brasserie Nel? No worries, you don't have to! Ordering and collection is very possible.
Tap Leak behind the dunes of Overveen has always been a household name, but now that it has recently been taken over it has become a vibrant place. When two incredibly enthusiastic entrepreneurs transform a sweet historic building in a beautiful location into a café for young, old and everyone in between, this is the result. You are so cute Kraantje Lek. The beach has an unprecedented appeal and the biggest advantage of Haarlem is often mentioned that it is close to the sea. The party starts during the route through the dunes, even if we end up stranded (sea what we did there) nowadays often on the edge of the Overveen forest. Kraantje Lek is located right on the cycle path and is attractive with its red shutters, enormous terrace and new playground. An iconic building next to the climbing dune and a favorite among walkers, cyclists and young parents who let their offspring get some air while they do their own well deserved order a coffee.
No matter how you look at it, there are rarely very many vitamins and vegetables in the dishes on the children's menu. That's why we always take a meal jar van NaturNes Bio along. Then the little one will have his daily portion of vegetables. They are happy – we are happy.
Sometimes there are days when you just need to get out of the house, but have no idea where to go. When you can't keep the kids at home and you don't want to do too much... Days like that. We call Children's theater de Toverknol and you're fine. Each of the locations in Amsterdam, Haarlem and Utrecht hosts performances with a new theme every month. From princesses to superheroes, you name it and it is there. Even more fun: theater and acting lessons are also given.
Favorite outing to take with the kids? We say The Horse Camp Foundation in Soest in Utrecht. Here, 'elderly' horses are cared for and pampered, after a long career as a police horse or riding school horse, for example. After 20 years, the horses retire and it is high time that they get some rest. And you can help a lot with that. Enjoy a day of petting and cuddling with quiet old horses and ponies. That is much more fun than it sounds.
Café Restaurant Amsterdam, AKA Cradam, may well be Amsterdam finest kid-proof restaurant. Here you can enjoy super luxurious dining with the kids. Because exactly, why not take the little ones on one family date night? Favorite. They sit at the table in their best outfits and enjoy the culinary dishes. Learned young, once again, done old. The children's menu contains the basics, but also a tasty pasta pesto or salmon as an option. And you just order what you want, from the normal menu, that is. Extra plus: take away is also a top tip here! We just mean; Fruit de Mer for home use. We want.
De Ysbreeker is perfect for minis with taste it. All kinds of dishes are reserved here, bite size (children's portions). And then no pancakes, croquette/frikandel with apple sauce (?!) or knak sandwich. No, here the little one is served a hamburger or chicken fillet (with apple sauce). Just be chic.
And speaking of terraces, The Ysbreeker has a very nice one. Overlooking the Amstel. Tables spread over the entire terrace, one under the trees and the other in the sun. Boats and people watching with a glass in one hand wine and in the other an oyster, bitterbal or something in between.
