Kids to go: Saskia Weerstand shares her favorite kid-friendly places in the country
We love a new 'discover-your-place' or an old favorite and that's why we stamp it Kids to Go of us nice and full. With what? The (sometimes literally) tastiest places to brave all the children's stuff, the nicest home entertainment, fun things to keep the little ones entertained and the best of the best tips to fill in some extra bonus time. Because it's easy? Coming up with children's entertainment?
High time indeed to collect tips from fellow humans, who - just like us - eagerly collect places to exhaust this category without any worries. Time for a question and answer session, and believe us, it came: the favorite places in the Netherlands, where the children can simply go. Of course we switch for that the nicest: Saskia Resistance in. We thought it was quite logical since she is the brains behind it Roads to Follow, she together with her lovely kids and partner in crime shares the best experiences in vlogs and regularly presents fun things on the screen. Anyway, Saskia knows everything about Kidsproof addresses and we were allowed to reveal her favorites. Is it coming:
Hand on heart that the most beautiful and finest beach pavilions are located along the Dutch coastline. (Almost) Always everything is nice. Delicious food and above all: coziness. Because when the weather is nice in the country, then the whole of the Netherlands longs for a sea view and salty air. Off with the whole family to Castricum, because we like to sit down at Beach Pavilion De Deining. For a sunny walk on the beach in the winter or to cool down on a scorching day. Why Deining? Because here is a kids' corner, it is on the beach (duh). The kids can play outside, but also inside when the weather is bad. It is spacious, and the menu promises nothing more than delicious things on your plate and in your glass. Ideal outing. Saskia's 'favorite of favorites' and we gladly join in.
One of those days when you are 'unexpectedly' out for longer than intended, because it was way too nice, to name a few (de Deining is guaranteed to deliver such a day). We always have some snacks for the little ones to keep them happy for a little longer. The Nutripops van NaturNes Bio are the i-dea-le for these days lifesavers against hunger.
In the middle of Zeeland (not far from Goes), there is a chance that you will just come across perhaps the most child-friendly restaurant in the Netherlands. Here you will find a large nature and play farm: Hof Poppendamme. First of all: it is huge! Park and start at the large meadow where snacks and drinks are served from a small colorful greenhouse. And the kids soon flee to the bouncy castles, racing around, building blocks. Play outside, play indoors; everything is possible here. There are bunnies hopping around, a real 'experience garden' (with herbs and nice explanations about what is what) and attractive seating areas for young and old. There is even an old caravan to climb in and through.
It is also with less weather the one and only place to be in Zeeland: the shed is equally gigantic. If you walk to the back, the little stuff can have fun with real climbing frames made of wood, a moving car, toys everywhere and crawling and sneaking spaces. It doesn't get any more fun, promise.
Essentially a kind of zoo, but just that little bit different. There are lions walking around and exciting brown bears. The animals once lived in captivity and now they are allowed to walk around the enclosures of Hoenderdal. Where everything is done to offer them a good life.
