Day away? Pick up your kids and go to The Hague! 3 x the best in the Hofstad
Oh Oh The Hague, beautiful city near the water. We go to The Hague (by train of course, and then we have more than enough packing snacks for both the outward and return journey, you understand), then there is a very good chance that we will visit the beach. We will come back to that soon: there is also plenty to do in the city center of The Hague. Of which act. Our favorites from the Hofstad.
Where are we taking the kids again? If you are looking for an indoor activity (indoor, because we still live in the Low Countries and have to skip the beach every now and then because of tornadoes and hailstorms) for the kids, consider the children's book museum in The Hague! A fun afternoon or morning for everyone, we promise.
Back to the younger children: a lot of fun has been arranged for them! This way you can crawl through Caterpillar Never Enough and count numbers along the way. In Frog's world you take off your shoes and can go fishing, bake cakes at Haas's house and "skate" with Frog. Upon arrival you can even put on striped frog pants (don't be afraid, just put them over the clothes they are already wearing ;-))
There is also a fire truck for the little fire brigade fans copy paste from the Annie MG Schmidt books. A spectacle that the kids will be talking about for a long time. And that's not all: downstairs there is a huge, colorful, cozy café to end (or interrupt) the visit. With special tables where the parents sit above and the children have a seat under the table. That's fun, isn't it? You almost become a child again.
Will The Hague not only become a royal city but also a city of cozy food halls? It just might be possible. The Foodhallen The Hague recently opened its doors and there is a big party here. From oysters to burgers to pizzas, it's all there. Yes, the start of the first Foodhallen about five years ago in Amsterdam West has been a flying start. Rotterdam followed last year and voilà, The Hague has also opened its eyes: there is plenty of room for a food hall á la Foodhallen.
And it may be said that the Hague branch of the Foodhallen is located in a very nice place: in the shopping courtyard of the Haagse Bluf. We like it because: you are no longer dependent on the Grote Markt or Het Plein for a nice drink spot in the middle of the city. And also nice about this location: Loetje Den Haag and The Collector (beautiful boutique hotel). So excuse us, who still talks about the past glory of the Hague Bluf?
It's like this: The Tree House Club, on the lovely Boekhorststraat in The Hague, is an extremely tasteful combination of catering for adults and fun for children. So to speak, the second home for young families. The interior (beautiful Scandinavian woodwork), the reading table, the lunch menu and especially the aperitif section on the menu make it an unmissable hotspot for parents. A hip yuppie naturally has yuppie children and believe us, they won't want anything else after a visit to De Boomhuttenclub.
Here, stylish play is taught from an early age and there are visits to it MonkeyTown en Candyworld really passé. The beautiful 'tree houses' are made in the same light woodwork as the rest of the business. The Tree House Club is of course not as large and versatile as, say, MonkeyTown, but it is nice and intimate. We count a total of three tree houses, which are connected by rope ladders and slides. Separated from the catering area by glass. And with Scottish pancakes with goat's cheese or blueberries on the menu, you will understand: this club is a party for both parent and child. So yup yup, it's great to stay here. The fresh Tree House Club is located in the former Cinema Americain. There is a real limo bar, but also wine and delicious snacks. We just wanted to emphasize. Cheers to The Treehouse Club.
