Although no fewer than 370 (!) apartments have been built in Locke de Santa Joana, the place does not feel massive. Not at all, in fact. It is certainly big, but that does not have a bad effect on the atmosphere. The interior is impressive. Characteristic elements (hello high ceilings!), fresh tones, timeless furniture and some Portuguese design here and there. The former monastery is located in Marquês de Pombal, one of the more modern neighborhoods of Lisbon where you will find many luxury hotels, international design shops and good restaurants. What you hardly find there are hills. In contrast to the rest of the city, it is relatively flat here (which is also nice if you are with kids), and since the metro is only a five-minute walk away, you don't have to lug your suitcases for long. This way you will not only leave the monastery feeling zen, but you will also enter it relaxed.
