A good portion of nature during your summer holiday at Rauris and the Hohe Tauern National Park in SalzburgerLand
We need to tell you about the Hohe Tauern National Park in SalzburgerLand. We can hardly be more immersed in nature in Europe than in this national park in Austria. There are a total of thirteen valleys in the national park, each with its own character. What do they have in common? Outdoor enthusiasts, families and hikers will get their money's worth here among the alpine pastures, streams, ibexes and marmots. One of those valleys we prefer to visit every year is the Raurisertal. We explain why in detail below.

Throw you 'outdoorPut your clothes in your bag, because you probably won't be indoors much during a holiday in Salzburgerland. With attractions for young and old, endless kilometers of hiking trails, cycling routes and mountain huts, beer gardens and terraces, the zipper of the tent, door of the hotel room or apartment can remain closed all day long.
SalzburgerLand can be reached by car. You cover a nice distance of approximately 1.000 kilometers that you can drive in 1 or 2 days. The connections by train are also improving. A little less time? If you want faster you can take Transavia non-stop from Amsterdam to Salzburg on Thursdays and Sundays.
It is sad to see how nature is changing in many places. In Rauris things are a bit brighter, because here nature is still as it was long ago – untouched and pure. You can enjoy it for a long time, because as a hiker you can choose from hiking trails of all levels of difficulty, both in the valley and to the mountain peaks. It is even more exciting to hike a few stages of the Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail. Stages 14 and 15 of this trail run straight through the valley from Rauris to Kolm Saigurn. If you walk the entire trail, you will cover 17 kilometers in 275 stages: that will take some time, but it will be worth the blisters.
Too hot in the summer? Bad excuse, because you pass no fewer than three hundred springs with cooling water. And they are all beautiful and diverse with a thundering waterfall or stream. Another beautiful valley is that near Seidlwinkl, where the alpine landscape is particularly impressive. You will also find a special path where you can learn all about water, including the spring water of Rauris.
It is also special that the Rauris valley has been the center of gold mining in Austria for centuries, where you can mine gold yourself. And what we book well in advance is a tour with a National Park Ranger.
Another reason to go this summer (or just before or after) is the validity of the Nationalpark SummerCard. From May 1 to October 31, you can use this card (available for an overnight stay in partner companies in the region) for free or with a significant discount on around 60 attractions.
An adventurous lifestyle requires rest after a day full of activities. We prefer to stretch our legs and rest in an accommodation that also looks beautiful and offers all amenities.
