REM Amsterdam: restaurant, rooftop and bar over the water
Fancy meets fun And all of that high in the sky at REM. On the iconic REM Island (don't know it? More on that below), there is a restaurant, bar, and rooftop all in one. Ha! Whether you come for a cup of coffee, a fine dining dinner, a cocktail or because you feel like dancing; it's all possible.
REM Amsterdam was taken over by Daan Bonsen and Jasper Goossen, known from hospitality group Staffhouse (Helling7, Mata Hari, Dinette, Verlan, Bon Burger, Door74), and since then the party has only gotten bigger.
And REM is not the only cool roof terrace in Amsterdam! These are the nicest roof terraces in Amsterdam
At REM you can find the full experience. We'll start at the bottom... At the bottom you can enjoy surprising cocktails and ditto bites. You can enjoy one floor higher fine dining with matching wine(s). You can choose from meat/fish or vegetarian. Additionally, there are non-alcoholic drinks, which is of course always nice for the non-alcoholics among us.
Don't forget to relax on the rooftop terrace (especially beautiful during golden hour), with the most stunning view of all of Amsterdam West. You can also hold meetings in style at REM. To round things off perfectly, you can let loose at all the REMs for the weekend and dance until the early hours. From A to Z, all your needs are met here.
A breath of fresh air has swept through the kitchen as well. The revamped menu is more accessible than ever, without compromising on quality. Expect dishes with influences from Scandinavia, Japan, and the Mediterranean, combined with the creative energy of Amsterdam. Refined, but without fuss.
The story of REM is at least as remarkable as the location itself. In 1964, the platform was built in the North Sea for commercial television broadcasts. That adventure did not last long: after only three months, it was dismantled by the National Police and the Royal Navy.
Years later, the iconic structure was given a second life. In 2011, it was moved to the Amsterdam Houthavens and, after a major renovation, opened as a restaurant. Since then, REM has grown into much more than that. It is a place where gastronomy, music, creativity, and encounters come together.
REM Amsterdam proves that city life is sometimes just a little bit more beautiful above the water.
