Restaurant Duro in Lisbon is chic and laid-back at the same time

At restaurant Duro In Lisbon you'll really have a night out. Think: white tablecloths, a DJ on the weekend, sharing plates, a wonderful cocktail bar where you can also sit down and enjoy the genuinely friendly staff. It's a mix of chic and laid-back—just what we love.

Reception

Reception

Upon entering, you first pass by the impressive wine collection, which is clearly visible in a glass cabinet near the entrance. That's when you know: we're in the right place. You receive a warm welcome, and what strikes us is that the space is spacious, yet the tables aren't too crowded, so you're not sitting on your neighbor's lap. The menu is small but appealing; no endless pages, just a selection of top wines.

The menu

Start with a special from the cocktail menu, choose whatever floats your boat Because they're all absolutely delicious. Afterward, definitely try the tapioca crackers with steak tartare. If we could, we'd order them five times. Another highlight is the tuna carpaccio, which they serve per person. One of the specialties is the potato with egg and shrimp—don't miss it.

For the main course, we're more than impressed with the steak, served in a hot pan, and the octopus in a hot dog. If you still have room, try the rigatoni. Here too, the shared-dining concept is key, allowing you to sample a little of everything.

And for dessert, a must: the chocolate mousse with sea salt and the mille-feuille with custard. Top it off with a after-dinner cocktail, and definitely stick around on the weekend for the later hours when the chairs are pushed aside and there's dancing.

By the way, you can also have lunch at Duro, from Sunday to Friday. In our opinion, it's also a perfect business lunch spot If you want to make a bit of an impression. And good to know: a little bird whispered to us that the interior is going to be even more impressive. So definitely keep an eye on Duro, and check it out if you're in Lisbon — it's a real night out, with delicious food and a great atmosphere. Oh, and be sure to check out the restrooms too – they're one-of-a-kindDon't forget the DJ on Friday and Saturday, they're open until 2 a.m., so after dinner you really don't need to go anywhere else. We like it.
