Hidden and not to be missed, this new restaurant in Amsterdam: Restaurant Hidden Amsterdam
Yes, but of course you know Mama Kelly restaurant. That delightful pink restaurant that originated on the outskirts of The Hague, but which became an equally big hit when it came to Amsterdam. Photogenic much, and it is also tasty and fun. With delicious cocktails as a calling card. Yay, Mama Kelly, so far so good, but that wasn't what this was about, right? Sorry. Beats. Although there is a reason why we are talking about this: the new restaurant Hidden Amsterdam is really hidden (aha) behind and under Mama Kelly. Ha! You are almost ON the green field of the Olympic Stadium, which - to be honest - gives the restaurant an extra (very nice) dimension. As if without that it was already a big tip from Flip: this new restaurant at the Olympic Stadium: Restaurant Hidden Amsterdam is a highscore.
Back to the beginning. Mama Kelly. It's fun there, very nice, but the unique location in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam actually deserved one too fine dining case. Let it be that the owners still had a nice cellar (that would be a waste of space, but it tastes so good). There they created a surprisingly light restaurant, dressed in dark green and blue tones. They named the business 'Hidden', and we think that was a good choice: one hidden gems it is.
In any case, 1+ points for those beautiful classic, timeless looks (which are therefore seriously contemporary). Nice sofas, pleasant seating areas (where you don't sit on your neighbors lap as is the case with many popular Amsterdam establishments and which we hate) and an attractive, stylish interior (white rugs, the most beautiful glassware (take a good look: there is a 'groove' in the wine glasses which makes the taste of the wine even better)).
The menu features dishes with a French base. Basics, because all kinds of countries and points of the compass will pass by. You choose a 5, 6 or 7 course menu. That menu is always changing (when we sat down to eat we licked our plates with the appetizers, the bisque and we asked to date the sommelier thanks to his more than excellent wine choices and taste in the perfect glassware). The menu is different every eight weeks and if you really want, you can also choose from a selection of à la carte dishes.
