Rotte Picnic Island, Rotterdam

Picnicking and boating with live music in the background: that sounds like a relaxing mini-vacation. In Rotterdam, that is possible from 3 to 5 July during Rotte Picnic Island: a pop-up island on the river Rotte where you can enjoy a delicious meal, sail and listen to live music. You enter the island via the footbridge, but you can also moor with your own boat. Once you arrive on the island, you don't have to do anything else. Enjoy the delicious meat and fish BBQ from Wildvleesch, have a cup of coffee at the counter of Lof der Zoetheid or have your favourite holiday drink served by local bartender hero 'El Ron de Rotterdam'. There is music by local singer-songwriters The YES Please, STOOKER & JANSEN and the Polar Twins and DJ Beauty Kees turns the place upside down with extravagant acts. Children can participate in the fishing competition or take a trip in an electric boat with their parents. You can also go back in time: archaeologists on the island will tell you all about the history of the Rotte and the finds that have been made. Children can make their own discoveries. And did you forget your picnic basket? No worries: nicely filled knapsacks are ready for you. Rotten Picnic Island
