Quiet skiing? Yes, that is certainly still possible at these (relatively) undiscovered ski areas in SalzburgerLand

We want big, bigger, biggest. Correct, dream big. But when it comes to winter sports, we might want it the other way around. No crowded slopes, ski areas known to the masses or a region with endless kilometers of slopes (because yes... getting lost). Don't get us wrong, that can be a lot of fun too. But often we also just want the kids keep an eye on whether we encounter the company we are on holiday with several times while skiing. In Austrian SalzburgerLand there are those (relatively) undiscovered regions where you can enjoy wonderful, but above all quiet, skiing. In this article you will find out where you need to go.

And bam, you can also win a fully catered trip there. Be sure to read on for more information.

SalzburgerLand

SalzburgerLand

More than 2.000 kilometers of slopes, that is what you will find in the Austrian SalzburgerLand. Of course there are the well-known regions, but fortunately they are also undiscovered and quiet here. What all seventy villages in SalzburgerLand have in common is the winter feeling and versatility.

SalzburgerLand is located about a thousand kilometers from Utrecht and is easily accessible by car. In addition, during the winter season there are a total of more than twenty direct flights per week from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. And perhaps the best option is the night train. That is a lot more sustainable and means you arrive refreshed in the morning at one of those quiet areas. Below we explain which areas these are.

Grossarltal

Grossarltal

You are guaranteed to know Ski amadé, but you know the region Grossarltal also? The region is part of Ski amadé, but has a quiet touch. There is the 'Skikeriki' and that is the ideal start to a day in the Grossarltal. You have to get up early, but with a group of up to thirty people you can fly down the freshly prepared slopes at half past seven. Sunrise on the slopes, breakfast on the mountain and then the rest of the skiing day begins. Right, that's what we want.

Morning workout check. The rest of the day then only has to be about enjoying yourself. This is of course possible on the wide slopes and in one of the mountain huts, but it is even more fun to gain energy in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Slightly more touristy is the ski and wine week from March 11 to 18, 2023, but we certainly want to give you that. Then you can enjoy regional specialties, Austrian wines and a versatile activities program for a week. And ladies, listen up: March 18 to 25, 2022 Lady ski week planned.

You can order ski passes for Grossarltal online at favorable rates in advance.

Dachstein West

Dachstein West

A look at the map, because where is Dachstein West? It is located on the foothills of the mighty Dachstein Glacier. The region connects the Salzkammergut in Upper Austria with the Lammerdal in SalzburgerLand and includes 160 kilometers of slopes. You will find no fewer than eight villages and (you guessed it) that once again provides a wide range of activities.

On the one hand, not far from the Mozart city of Salzburg, you have the idyllic Lammer Valley and on the other hand the historic Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut region. The two are connected by the multi-award winning Dachstein West ski area. A must try is the 40 kilometer long 'Dachstein Tour' route. That is panorama after panorama view.

What makes Dachstein West so nice is the cozy atmosphere and hospitality in the villages.

Radstadt

Radstadt

In contrast to the skiers whizzing by quickly, cross-country skiers radiate tranquility. Not surprising that the region Radstadt is known among cross-country skiers, thanks to its more than 150 kilometers of trails. Radstadt aka. the 'old city in the mountains', is located in the upper Ennstal, just 70 kilometers south of the city of Salzburg.

And although Radstadt is the ideal base for some of Austria's most beautiful and famous ski areas, you can still go on holiday here for a very reasonable price. The Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area is located in a sheltered area, is guaranteed snow, the slopes are nice and wide and of course you will find cozy ski huts.

If you need even more variety, opt for a relaxing winter walk, put on your snowshoes and take a walk through the virgin snow on the slopes or take your skates for a few laps on the natural ice rink.
