Anyway, we went to Crete. The island of programs about Hersonissos, with drunk teenagers in overcrowded swimming pools? It's possible, but we haven't seen them. We did see an above-average beautiful island, with the clearest water and the most beautiful beaches. The friendliest people, the most delicious food, and you will also stay in the most beautiful accommodation, where you can fully enjoy all that Greek beauty. And more: Salt Suites is, let's face it, a destination on its own where you can easily not go outside for a few days (ultimate holiday) because everything can be found in and in front of the door. If you want to venture out, know that the postcode of Salt Suites is a central one, and you will then be at the best of what Crete has to offer.

We stayed at Salt Suites, located on Agia Pelagia bay. The dream.

After a road full of hairpin bends (nice steering), this is the oasis where you can enjoy yourself to the fullest. The engine of the rental car (so nice, at By June you always pay one package price for your ticket, a rental car and the accommodation - you really don't have to think about anything anymore) when we were greeted by two more than enthusiastic hotel employees. cheerfully welcomed.

After a fresh homemade limo and a short tour, we were taken to our suite. And oh boy oh boy, you want that!

The suites are spacious, fresh, more than tastefully decorated and fully equipped.
But the greatest luxury and pampering can be found on your private terrace. There is your own hot tub, with lovely sun loungers. All in all, you don't have to leave your suite for total relaxation and a more than beautiful view. However; by all means do that. Because the restaurant of Salt Suites is just as tasteful as the rest of the complex, where not only guests of Salt Suites are welcome, but it is also a popular destination for other holidaymakers to have a nice lunch, dinner or a drink.

You can sit on cozy couches or at nice seats, enjoy delicious snacks and ditto wine. And here too with your sniffer right on the Ionian Sea.

What you don't see much (or actually: don't see) are children. The suites are designed with the idea of ​​couples staying, or solo travelers (it really is the ultimate destination for that), or with a friend, or with your mother, or father, or brother... You get the point as long as your traveling companion is older than 12). So not suitable for kids. A baby cot can be added in consultation, but for a holiday with older kids we advise you to look a bit further. We understand that you prefer to spend days in your suite, because that is really no punishment, but also grab the rental car that is in front of the door and go exploring. Crete.

A short distance from Salt Suites you will find the Minoan palace of Knossos: the impressive ruins give you a glimpse into the rich history of Crete. For the adventurer, there are breathtaking hiking trails through the mountains. Everything is more fun from a boat! Applies to Amsterdam, but also certainly to Crete. Discover the coastline from a boat and you won't know what you see! How to arrange that? The helpful staff at Salt Suites will of course arrange this for you. 
We went (on the advice of the hotel manager). Heraklion, a wonderful tourist town with street musicians, full terraces and genuinely nice, cozy and good restaurants. The picturesque town Rethymnon is also recommended. A little further drive, but definitely worth it, is the hippie city Matala. Climb into the caves and walk through the crystal clear water. 

Greece, Crete, and in particular Salt Suites have recaptured our hearts (again), and we are pinning Greece to our forever bucket list. Crete was a fantastic start, off to the next Greek island!
