The best hangout in Scheveningen is open: Hito

Wow, we rarely encounter beach bars this perfect. Hito in Scheveningen clearly belongs in the ranks of Aloha Wijk aan Zee, Republiek-style beach restaurants, because even "tent" sounds a bit too cheesy. How? Think: a permanent beach house, full of warm wood, warm colors, burgundy tiles, and the right menus (from breakfast to dinner) to stay there all day.

At Hito, there's always a whiff of the sea and fire, and you get impeccable intentions and execution to boot. The kitchen, led by Rogier Trip, is mouthwatering. Whether you go for a mix of all the starters and snacks, or simply choose your own "main" dish, everything is equally delicious. The menu offers a variety of options, such as white beans with morcilla sausage and parsley, or tuna tartare with tiger's milk, orange, and red onion. Exciting? Yes. Delicious? Hell yes.

And then there's the atmosphere. At Hito, they don't play loud beach hits; they do play music that perfectly complements a good glass of wine in the winter, enjoying the sea view from behind a large window, and in the summer, relaxing on the spacious terrace. A big plus? The service is relaxed yet knowledgeable. And that's quite impressive for a beach club.

The interior is spotless, with a large fireplace on the right and a generous bar in the center. In summer, the entire facade opens, allowing you to walk right in and be back outside before you know it. As we likeWarm colors, dark wood, and a nice setup for spinning records. We will be back, because if you are open from 9.00am to 23pm, that gives you a lot to taste and experience.

P.S. We also loved the cups, which, upon turning them over, turned out to be Laboyrie's cups, which still have to be launched. That's going to be delicious.
