Italian food is love, we cannot ignore that. From pasta to risotto: everything is – with a good Italian, of course – delicious. The same goes for Vino&Friends downtown Maastricht, at the oh-so-cozy Onze Lieve Vrouweplein. An Italian pearl of a family restaurant awaits you here. Everything is fresher than fresh, there is no doubt about that, because the owners always go out to do the shopping themselves in the morning. It is warm, atmospheric and the service is more than knowledgeable and professional.

First the history of the Maastricht Koestraat in a very brief nutshell: twenty years ago you would not want to be found dead (or alive) in this medieval-looking street, now it is - in our opinion - the nicest street in Maastricht. The Koestraat is small and less than 100 meters long in total, but it feels like one petit avenue in Marsh. The oui, oui, Paris-feeling. Thanks to the local catering establishments, who made the transformation possible. We find it hidden at the tail end of the Koestraat Tomato. An Italian shop, which is a nice addition in the middle of the street with French allure. Just like the rest of the Koe businesses Tomato small and therefore quickly full: tiny tables against the long blue wall bench (no velvet this time, for which kudos), alternated with higher tables. It is well known among Maastricht residents Restaurant Laus No, it's always fun. And especially when the summer months arrive, you can sit in the sun on the narrow terrace - the perfect ambiance for the equally sunny, unmistakable Italian dishes. Italian pasta and other classics, as they say. All nice, but what makes Restaurant Laus in Maastricht a little more likeable than its fellow Italians in the city is that at Laus you can also go very well with 'just' an (excellent) glass of wine (and okay, something to snack on). on the side).

Only the tastiest dishes come from Gio's kitchen, served in an authentic Italian restaurant. There is no menu: you choose meat, fish or vegetarian and then you wait. Don't panic: that's no punishment, because everything is always good and tasty. Reservations via the site are not possible and it is always busy (so it is possible that the phone is not answered, so just drop by).

If we stay at the Vrijthof for a while (good plan), that's it restaurant Il Bacaro Maastricht 'that other Italian'. A little hipper, a little more accessible, also highly recommended. Here you can enjoy the Italian classics that we appreciate so much: a creamy ball of buratta, a full carbonara (which you can easily stick to your hips, but it's worth it) and a fresh Spaghetti prosciutto e limone.
