Taverno Willi Becher, Amsterdam North – now with a new mega terrace!

Amsterdam North is slightly different scenery. It lies - of course - in that little bit of extra space, fewer tourists and yet the urban charm of Amsterdam. Well, North is just different. And we like it differently. What makes things even more fun is that it is buzzing and because North never sits still. No, top addresses keep being added there in Amsterdam North (take a look at our northern collection. Each one is a reason to defy the purchase.) Taverno Willi Becher is one just like that. A bar-dancing restaurant, yes Taverno Willi Becher, you are exactly what we wanted in Noord, plus more.

 

And the best news: they have one mega terrace. Full day with your face in the sun, cozy at picnic tables. And when we say mega, we mean mega. Not six benches clustered together, but a whole (large) lawn full of ambiance. Come on, please.

We couldn't enjoy it long enough last summer, so we're really looking forward to joining us again. The gemütlichkeit of a German beer bar, combined with the warmth of a Mediterranean taverna (you know, a small restaurant where local food is served, we like). Taverno Willi Becher is hidden behind the walls of an old warehouse, dating from 1930. It is that authenticity that inspired Julius and Rick, the owners, to mix different cultures. And they just know how to push that to a successful level: Rick brought, together with Oedipus brewing, already a new beer culture in the Netherlands and Julius also knows all about it. He is pro cooking on an open fire and he has learned that again over the years Cannibal en Hotmamahot. The cooking skills of Julius and his team are literal on fire. Ha. And whether we will taste that again at Taverno Willi Becher…

 

Drinkable drinks, no fuss, simple dishes and no unnecessary fuss here either. Just everything delicious. And speaking of those beers, there is room for ten beers on tap, which the men of Taverno Willi Becher describe as: the folksy and rustic character that flows through the taps. Sounds pretty exciting, right? The dishes are all prepared in a wood-burning oven, BBQ or on a kebab skewer. Of course, we don't have to make it into a long story, it goes very well with those farmer's beers just mentioned.

 

At Taverno Willi Becher it is industrial, cozy and warm. With cheerful staff at your table.

The interior completely matches the no nonsense culture of Taverno Willi Becher. The smell, the dinner on an open fire, gemütlichkeit - it all fills the room and creates the atmosphere of Willi Becher: warm, cool and atmospheric. Large (beer) tables with benches for an evening with your friends or family, or a smaller table for one date night. A large blue bar upon entry and the open kitchen as an extension. At the back of the shop you will even find a lovely terrace (where you can stand with your drink in your fist), looking out over the water.

Taverno Willie Becher is open from Friday to Sunday. And there is a party every day.
