A Leiden discovery: the Blacksmith's Garden

During the weekend we look forward to the weekend and outside the weekend we look forward to the weekend even more. In short; we love a good autumn weekend. There's nothing better in this autumn weather than getting outside, lounging around a bit and (above all!) not doing much else. Call it doing nothing. Even better to combine this with some entertainment for the kids (reading or playground or animals or playground and animals) let the Garden of the Blacksmith in Leiden are an answer to everything we call a perfect autumn weekend for your exciting Saturday or something more laid back lazy sunday.

The Blacksmith's Garden

The Blacksmith's Garden

Why the Blacksmith's Garden? We will briefly outline a day in Leiden for you: when you have parked the car just before the bridge, where a cycle path starts and the motorway ends, you will suddenly come across a path into nature. It is clearly indicated on the signs where to go (getting lost is not a possibility, no worries). After a short walk of half a kilometer, you arrive at your destination; the Blacksmith's Garden. And the Blacksmith's Garden is next to a lovely estate with animals everywhere: we mention sweet horses, ponies, bleating sheep and especially lots of strumming chickens. Oh and we almost forgot to mention the pigs, they are happily rolling in the mud at the back of the Blacksmith's Garden, opposite the coop with all the pheasants, chickens and other poultry. Fun guaranteed!
There is also a lovely greenhouse, where you can drink coffee, eat cake and even have an extensive lunch. Now all this is available for take out from no less half past ten in the morning to five o'clock in the afternoon, do we hear the ideal menu to organize an autumn family picnic? And if you are here around noon (or a little later), treat yourself to the homemade polder fries, tastes like more portions... Apart from the animal fun, there is even more for sale in the take-out hatch, namely beautiful recycled woolen blankets, tea and other stuff for home. So do it! And if you're not convinced yet, save it for later. In healthy global times it is also possible to rent the location for a party, fun among the horses and sheep.

Are you looking for nature + take-out coffee (we mean: getting some fresh air and keeping your hands warm at the same time with a take-away coffee/tea/hot chocolate)? We have a list of places which exactly meets that wish.
