A royal weekend in the nature of Twente: Landgoed de Holtweijde
The Holtweijde estate in Twente is such a nice place for your portion escapism. A bit of luxury while still enjoying a nice rural setting. They call it 'Stylish country life'. And we can only confirm that. Pampering, walking, swimming, good food, wellness and - if they are allowed to come along - entertainment for children.
Actually, you already have us at the term 'estate'. We like that – every now and then. It reminds us of the old-fashioned regal style that the English have maintained so well. And anyone who knows us a little knows that we love that. If you want to cross the border, there are Cotswolds en Ireland for this excess. If you prefer to stay closer, Landgoed de Holtweijde is a nice option. The estate has several suites, cottages and a wooden hut on the edge of the forest. When you wake up and are very quiet, the deer, deer and hares pass by in your view. That's nice to get up from.
You could easily stay on the estate for a whole weekend. Of course, you can also go out in the area. But a nice restaurant – with options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, highwine of torch – is present at the Holtweijde. And a swimming pool and wellness also. There is also a three-pitch green, bicycles for rent, children's entertainment with special children's films and a playground, tennis courts, saunas. You get it by now. You don't have to leave. That is of course allowed and then there are the cute villages of Ootmarsum and Lattrop or the surrounding nature reserves. And for those for whom the four-legged friend is part of the family - aka you won't go anywhere without the dog - there is the special Kwispel Package with a dog breakfast, walking with a walking map on the estate, a dog bed and a doggie bag with a bone. That's too nice a thought.
