Traveltainment: we listen to books via Storytel. Lise's favorites

Where the rest of all Bartjes talk about reading books - but mainly listenAs it turns out (because that is much easier, more fun and more exciting than reading) – on the plane, in the hotel lobby or just 'on the road', I take a completely different tack. I listen to books while ironing. There, I said it. There is nothing more mindful than listening to new sentences and words while ironing the laundry with earplugs. Yes, it is true, since then I have ironed even more and even better! On my own, on top of the landing, wonderfully busy with my hands and completely focused on a story between my ears. Households as the finest. That's why here are my tips for the best audiobooks: which you can listen to here.

Living with the moon - Yasmin Boland

Living with the moon - Yasmin Boland

Ever since I realized that the moon determines whether the tide is high or low and that we humans are 80 percent water, I firmly believe that we are subconsciously influenced by the moonlight. That soon sounds a bit vague and that's why it is Living with the moon a wonderful book to listen to. No fuss, no Yomanda, just a clear explanation about the moon and its cycles and what the influence of the moon is on our health, state of mind, relationships and our work. Normally my eyes quickly close when reading serious books, but listening while ironing? Ideal. Listen Living with the moon on here Storytel.

Audrey Hepburn, the Dutch girl - Robert Matzen

Audrey Hepburn, the Dutch girl - Robert Matzen

Audrey Hepburn who has a connection with the Netherlands? Hihihi, definitely yes. At least, that's what I thought. But nothing turned out to be further from the truth: Audrey Hepburn took part in the resistance during the war, assisted doctors during the Battle of Arnhem and lived through the Hunger Winter of 1944. Quite strange, since this is not described in any biography about her. While she also became the most famous ballerina in Arnhem during the war years. How?! Well, Audrey's own memories, interviews with acquaintances, diaries and new research shed light on this unknown period of her life. Listen to it here.

The Testaments - Margaret Atwood

The Testaments - Margaret Atwood

If I've made one big mistake in my life, it's that The Handmaid's Tale binge on Videoland first, instead of reading the book first. Rookie mistake, Steegmans! Because who is going to read another book if you've already seen the series? That's the upside down world, so to speak. But even worse, who is going to read part 2 if you haven't read part 1? Well, you understand my anxiety. That is why the audiobook of the great successor, The Testaments, the golden mean. And I can tell you, that's a relief. Can be listened to here.
