TRAVELTAINMENT: WE LISTEN TO BOOKS VIA STORYTEL. NINA'S FAVORITES

Do you already know Barts Book Club? Herewith! After the book favorites by Maartje, Jorien and Milou, I - Nina aka Barts Groene Boekje - was allowed to open my booklet. I also think so audiobooks the invention. Not only can I finally make better use of those moments on the road than with pointless scrolling through Instagram. Which means that my book-to-do is finally decreasing instead of increasing. I am also working on a sustainable audio book. Saving trees and such. Unlike my fellow Bartjes, I like to read - from now on listen - to non-fiction. Books about sustainability, slow living and conscious living are of course on top of the pile. You can read which books are your favorites here.

How are we going to explain this - Jelmer Mommers

How are we going to explain this - Jelmer Mommers

The current book in the field of climate change. If you already know a lot about the subject, it will contain a lot of what you already know. Still, it is nice to read things side by side to better understand the bigger climate picture. If you don't know enough about the subject yet, then this book is a must. You immediately have the necessary information from years of reading articles and watching documentaries explained simply and clearly. No, it is not a “fun” book because unfortunately the subject is not that cheerful. Although after reading you will still be hopeful that we can tackle the climate challenges together. The Little Book of Hygge - Brand Wiking

The Little Book of Hygge - Brand Wiking

Sustainable living also means slow living. Don't want too much but be happy with what is there. The Danes have the word Hygge for it. I once bought this sweet book and it still sits happily on the book pile. If you don't want such heavy fare but want a child's reminder of how to be happy with the little things in life, this book will certainly give you a smile often. Download it here

The courage of imperfection - Brené Brown

The courage of imperfection - Brené Brown

Brené Brown's TedX video about vulnerability touched me – and another dozen million people with me – so much. This woman knows how to highlight deep topics in a light and sometimes even funny way. In the book 'The courage of imperfection' she opens up another common topic that gets in the way. Why do we postpone things? What lies beneath always wanting to do good? If the penny dropped on vulnerability then, it will now also drop on imperfection. And after listening to this book, that perfection can go straight away. Download it here

Mating in Captivity - Esther Perel

Mating in Captivity - Esther Perel

Sex in long relationships. It's quite a thing. How do you keep that going? And what is behind the fact that in most cases it does not last forever. The guru on sex and relationships is Esther Perel. This woman is so full of knowledge in this area and - although she sometimes discusses the subject quite scientifically and not so sexy - she is going to help everyone live a more passionate life. And we all want that, right? Download it here

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - Cavallo & Favilli

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - Cavallo & Favilli

Unfortunately for the Dutch-speaking rebellious (little) girls, this book is not yet available as an audio book. But for the older rebels - so you and me - you can listen to the stories of tough women from today and from history in English. It is an inspiring book that tells the stories of Rosa Parks, Marie Curie, Seondeok of Silla, Serena and Venus Williams, Jane Goodall and 95 other powerful women. Stories that did not make it into the history books or the media because more attention was paid to men. A little bit of feminism makes us all better. Men too. Download it here
