Almost everyone recovers from sun, sea and vitamin D. When you go to an island, you kill three birds with one stone. We list a number of well-known and lesser-known Spanish examples. On this one Spanish islands you have to be in 2024.

Ibiza

Dat Ibiza being one of the most popular islands doesn't mean you have to swim around it. Moreover, it is relatively quiet outside the high season and the temperatures are a lot more pleasant than in the Netherlands. You can easily take a trip to this island trippy make it if you want. Pulling all-nighters at the club, meditating on a mountain, a little bit of both, or doing something completely different. In the north of the island you will find beautiful nature and the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed than in the south, where most clubs are located. There is also a lot of partying in the west. Especially in San Antonio (don't say we didn't warn you). The east of Ibiza is popular among families and market goers.

Mallorca

Mallorca

Just like Ibiza offers Mallorca a mix of nature and party. The island has mainly sandy beaches family proof, slightly less hippie than Ibiza and generally a lot more affordable. Mallorca is larger and more extensive than Ibiza and is a paradise for cycling enthusiasts. Even for Dutch cycling enthusiasts, that says enough. Cycling, parties, whistling... the ideal destination for a change parties en Naps.

Formentera & Menorca

Formentera & Menorca

Formentera is the smallest inhabited island of the Balearic Islands. Small but nice, yes. You can't go out there, just chill out a lot. Apart from hidden bays, sandy beaches and beautiful nature, this island does not have much to offer. But hey, you shouldn't want to plant a lot at 19km. Are you looking for peace and sun? Then this is the ideal destination. Would you rather have more excitement? Ibiza is just around the corner, so after a short boat trip you can be right back in the middle of it. Also Menorca is a bit of a neglected child full of undiscovered places. Still nice and quiet, but anything but boring.

Tenerife and El Hierro

Tenerife and El Hierro

From the Balearic Islands to the Canary Islands. Fly a little further, but then you have something. Tenerife is the island where Siam Park opened its doors in 2008. Indeed, that is the place that is still labeled as one of the best water parks in the world. You are guaranteed to score points with your kids. Tenerife (fortunately) has much more to offer, as you will find there beautiful beaches and you can enjoy it traditional and slightly less traditional dishes. From Tenerife you can continue to El Hierro. This small island is still relatively unknown, making it a must for hikers and mountain bikers who want to avoid tourist attractions but still want to enjoy unspoiled nature.

 

Fuerteventura

Canary Islands or Caribbean? That's what you almost wonder when you're on Fuerteventura are. This island, the warmest on this list, is a paradise for surfing enthusiasts. In addition to the sun (which shines here all year round) and waves, you will find dolphins and whales, and a lot of activities are organised. Not the most peaceful island, but one where you certainly won't be bored.

Lanzarote and La Palma

Lanzarote and La Palma

One beach is not the same as the other. Lanzarote is different from the other islands in this list because the white sandy beaches alternate with black volcanic beaches. Lanzarote is mainly known for its special landscapes. Do you ever want to see it? Unlike Lanzarote La Palma (not to be confused with Palma de Mallorca) very green. It is not known as “La Isla Bonita” for nothing. Although you will find a few lava beaches even here, you can mainly immerse yourself in the local island life of - and with - the friendly Palmeros.
