Organic markets in Amsterdam
Organic food is better for the animals, the earth, and yourself. Only advantages. Okay, almost only advantages. It may be more expensive than the supermarket, but then you have something. Support your locals, we like to do. Did we mention that it is often tastier? Here it is (important point though).
Ok, enough advantages and we have convinced you enough. In Amsterdam they also understand it well, there you can find an organic market in every neighborhood. These are the nicest organic markets in Amsterdam.
De noordermarkt is perhaps the most famous organic market in Amsterdam and that is not without reason. The market has been around since the 17th century (back then it was a pot market, we would still be happy about that), and in 1987 it officially became the first Organic Farmers Market in the Netherlands. The Jordaan is always lively but on Saturdays the square is full of market stalls which makes the atmosphere even better. On one side you can go for food, on the other side you will find clothing, books and antiques. Done shopping? Time for coffee and apple pie (the tastiest in Amsterdam!) at café Winkel.
Organic Northern Market, Saturday from 10.00am – 16.00pm
In addition to the Noordermarkt there is also the SouthernMRKT. Small, but (very) nice. We can't deny that we are fans of the Appie (nice and easy) and Flink (bicycle delivery people aside), but it's actually a shame that local entrepreneurs are the victims of this. Local residents thought so too, so they decided to change this. This is a real neighborhood market, local residents help out at the market and therefore also determine the offer together. Fresh pasta from EcoGastronomy, Crêpes from Crêpes Carrousel and Indonesian from Mukki's Rantang. Do we need to say more?
SouthernMRKT, Saturday from 9.30am to 17.00pm
De Pure Market is a traveling market, every Sunday the market is at a different location in Amsterdam. Every last Sunday of the month in Park Frankendael, every second Sunday of the month in the Amstelpark and also occasionally in the Amsterdamse Bos or Hilversum. You can go here for organic groceries (duh), but you can also eat very well. Imagine sunday breakfast even out and get breakfast (or lunch, or brunch, or just all of them) at the market. Also recommended with kids btw, they enjoy the swing ride, you with a glass of wine in the grass.
Pure Market, Sunday from 11.00am to 17.00pm or 18.00pm
East, West, North best. The best organic groceries can be found here on the Farmers MarketEvery Saturday you can go to the Buikslotermeerplein for fresh honey, organic dairy and bread from the Vlaamsch Broodhuys.
Farmers Market North, Saturday from 9.00am to 16pm
All those markets are great at the weekend, but sometimes we just don't feel like (or don't have time) to go shopping. Luckily, you can also go for a walk around the Farmers market at the Haarlemmerplein make, you have your lunch break, walk and groceries in at the same time. Three birds with one stone.

Haarlemmerplein is not the only place you can go during the week. Zeeburg also has an organic market every Wednesday. Organic market Zeeburg has been around for over 10 years and in addition to fresh fruit and vegetables you will also find Lebanese mezze and vegetarian roti here.
