Or you can read our article about it the nicest places in Dutch nature ever looked through? In that list is Outside in the Pit one of the absolute standouts in Lage Vuursche. And rightly so. The best part of the story? That you can always go there, even if you can hardly hook up with anything else. Because outside. Because takeaway. Because space. And that's a great idea! Off to Outside in the Pit (but not all at the same time!).

Outside in the Pit

There is a catering facility outside in De Kuil Pit of Drakensteyn, in, as mentioned, Lage Vuursche (municipality of Baarn). It is located right next to Drakensteyn Castle, the castle where Princess Beatrix lives. So, full circle or fun, right? But especially important in this story: what a nice place this is!

We arrived at 10.00am, parked in the spacious parking lot, had a delicious latte, apple juice for the kids and a tasty (and we are critical) brownie. Plus: warm up by the fire. Win-win-win-win. Then we took a short walk around the hole, but that was us, with a two-and-a-half-year-old child, because you can also take all kinds of beautiful long walks there!

The kids were amazed at the mountain bikers and horse riders who passed by. So let's have a nice hot chocolate with whipped cream… (we're not going home yet… we're not going home yet…). And the kids certainly didn't want to go home: they had fun dragging sticks, making a fictional campfire, playing hide and seek, playing football; everything nice. For lunch we got delicious toasted sandwiches (simple but good) and a delicious pumpkin soup. We will definitely come back here this lockdown! When you are there it feels like there is no corona. The only challenge is that you are not allowed to go to the toilet; that must happen somewhere in the woods!
