Cafe Maxwell in Amsterdam East has been completely renovated
Five years ago, Beukenplein was the hospitality hotspot of Amsterdam-Oost. Terraces, drinks, good bites - you knew: this is where you need to be. Lately? A bit quieter. The energy seemed to have disappeared a bit, Amsterdammers moved on. A shame, because the offer has actually become more varied.
Where previously mainly 3WO ruled the roost (RIP Mama Dough, still missed!), other entrepreneurs have also found the square. Fortunately, one of the original businesses is still there: Café Maxwell. And good news: it has had a major makeover.
Okay, unfortunately a bit of bad news: the nachos, one of our favorite guilty pleasures and once labeled by us as the best in Amsterdam, are off the menu. Sour, but true. Fortunately, that is also the only downside, because there is nothing else negative to say about the renovated Café Maxwell. The interior has been given a major upgrade and the menu has also been tackled. Everything now fits in just that little bit better with what you expect from a good catering establishment these days, without losing the familiar comfort food feeling.
For those who don't know Café Maxwell yet: it's a nice place on the Beukenplein in Amsterdam-Oost, with a sunny terrace where you can sit down from the afternoon. Inside it's warm, cozy and attracts a nice mix of people from the neighborhood: it feels a bit like a pub, but with better food and drinks.
This is one of those places you always want to go to. Whether you fancy a beer and a smashburger with friends or a more extensive meal with your parents (the parents, as we like to call them), Maxwell has something for everyone.
With a fresh look and that familiar vibe, Maxwell is ready to give Beukenplein a new boost.
