Camping Abroad + Abroad Party
It's not the first time I've said it, and I'm sure it won't be the last, but I don't like camping. Neither does the husband. Even Willem, the (pug) dog, honestly doesn't have too much of it - we tried. And yet... this site cannot do without some great camping addresses that make the concept bearable. Creative, extremely pleasant, sustainable and simply incredibly beautiful, they are, as in the case of Camping Buitenland, hidden in the Drenthe countryside.
The project was bought by five friends who wanted to leave busy Amsterdam for a 'little bit of abroad', but not too far away. It has to remain fun. They bought a gigantic site (over 9 hectares) between a swimming lake and a forest and created a unique campsite where self-builders and architects have complete freedom to work on their ideal holiday home. This will then also be used for holiday rentals. It is a more than pleasant mix of boho camping things, but the Greenhouse stands out above it all – a greenhouse-style house in the middle of the greenery.

The Outdoor Bar, the heart of the campsite, is the living room of all guests. I also applaud the same atmosphere in Little Escapes NL & VL Camping De Lieveling – a similar campsite elsewhere in the country that was set up just like this one by creative suburbanites. That campsite – and especially the festivals that are held there – can still show off in your little black book.
And what De Lieveling does, Abroad can also do it! Here too, a heck of a festival, namely the Foreign Party. And a party it is. For young and old, as they call it, with a cheerful meaning of camping decorations, campfires, strumming guitars and sweet-toned singing voices, children's adventurers, food trucks, 'chilling in your speedo by the beautiful swimming pool' and hot tubs. This year for the second time.
