The five men behind Hannekes Boom (the 'temporary' pub at the CS still going strong, fortunately) are well on their way to taking over Amsterdam and starting at the Handboogstraat in the heart of the city - there they opened almost next to two of their other businesses; the Flower bar (seriously easy going drinks for hip(star) people) and Disco Dolly  (disco dancing 2.0) Cannibale Royale. Why? Because it wasn't there yet (well, Bar Huf comes close), really good food and drinks before and after midnight. From around 17 pm you can enjoy burgers, spare ribs, a good glass of wine and beer from small breweries, national and international. The handsome, dark business is run with love and pleasure: kudos for the staff. And for the original design, which was done with input from one of the five (each of whom is responsible for a different matter) by the designer who also designed, among others, Bar Huf and Cafe Friday. Nice wooden floor? He doesn't see a chicken at night, so hopla, to the ceiling, those planks. The bar? That may jump out. And the tables will soon have extra long legs so that high seating becomes the standard. The stairs near the somewhat gruesome collection of dolls lead to the soon to be 'men cave': a basement space not just for men, but with relaxing leather sofas and a large TV screen. The plan also includes its own beer (Cannibale Bier? Sounds good) with the brewers of Two Chefs, and the approach to the Farm in East, the next project of the five. Royal Cannibal
