Counter; the breath of fresh air that the Czaar Peterstraat in Amsterdam East was waiting for

The Czaar Peterstraat in Amsterdam is really a street where a lot has been tried but where it never really seems to work. Strange actually because there is a lot of (bicycle) traffic, it is located in the middle of cozy residential areas and super central. Of course Fromagerie Kef has been a household name for years but otherwise the (catering) entrepreneurs alternate each other at a rapid pace. From pansy (nicest place in East for ceramics, prints, posters and all the colorful stuff you can think of) you can also say that it is there 'to stay' and it also seems to be going well with Shaggies (where you can do a nice tufting workshop). And now two entrepreneurs have emerged who are making their dream come true in the Czaar Peter: the team behind counters. As far as we are concerned, they will stay for a while.

Counter is a sandwich deli and natural wine bar in one. It may sound a bit fancy, but it is anything but. Counter is an accessible place with perhaps the cheapest lunch in Amsterdam. For ten euros you can score a sandwich or quiche here plus choose two options from the following list: soup - drink - cake. Create your own combination and continue your day well-filled. From Tuesday to Saturday they are ready for you with fresh sandwiches and the soup and quiche of the day.

On Friday and Saturday they open again at 18:00 as a natural wine bar, with a nice selection of funky wines and handy snacks. A nice addition to the neighborhood, because although you can find enough bars for a beer, it is more difficult to pop in somewhere for a good glass of wine. They just opened and hopefully the opening hours will soon be extended so that you can join them more often. Give it a try, there are enough reasons to make this a permanent fixture on the Czaar Peterstraat.
