Old-fashioned dining with beer and bread at De Broodbrouwers in The Hague

Unexpected place, not in the center of The Hague, but still in front of the Bink (you know, with Mama Kelly, Capriole and Glassware). Hidden in a neighborhood near Rijswijkseplein, an old historic beer cold store now serves as a bistro and bakery. Hello The Bread Brewers!

This is a collaboration between Happy Tosti (we know them from ourselves list of the 33 favorite restaurants in The Hague) and Delicious Bread. The Broodbrouwers are not only good at what they do, they also have a social mission. For example, more than 60 people with a (in)visible disability have a job in the bistro or bakery of the Broodbrouwers. Very good!

Breakfast, lunch or dinner? At the Broodbrouwers they don't turn a blind eye to it. No complicated stuff on the menu (so no fuss prices, which is a bonus), but a good gado gado salad or vegan chili dog. And every Thursday evening student evening, where you get a lamb burger and draft beer for a total of ten euros (Whatatt? Yes we know, really no money).

With drinks chicken wings with blue cheese sauce or a basket of bread with delicious artichoke dip. And when we say drinks, we say beer. Extensive beer list at the Broodbrouwers, in different categories (are you going for intense and challenging or amber and elegant?). We think this combination is great!

Outside there is plenty of space on the terrace with robust tables and cozy lights (add a beer and you will be comfortable all evening). Inside the monumental building in The Hague you have to climb a few stairs so you sit a little higher, overlooking the bakery below. Yes, during the day you can sneak downstairs into the bakery (we think it's great!), where the bakers bake the fresh bread. Not to mention the smell of the freshly baked bread that wafts upwards.

Ask the friendly waiter if you can turn on the glass organ, through which flour, flour and all kinds of seeds and herbs slide down from the restaurant into the bakery.

You are welcome at De Broodbrouwers all day long. But you are also welcome to drop by quickly for fresh bread to take home. Take a look at The Bread Brewers and who knows, you might have a nice drink or breakfast at this Hague gem!
