Six sustainable dinners on Gotland

Culinary on Gotland, Sweden's largest and tastiest island, that's a thing these days. The island actually got one sustainable boost: from now on you can year round sustainable dining and taste the accompanying bubbles at world-class level. So it's high time for a better tasting session at one of the six 'sustainable pleasures'. At your service: six sustainable dining experiences on Gotland.

BAGERIET

BAGERIET

Do you know those unmissable hotspots? One of those hotspots that are always buzzing in one way or another. Of those golden oldies in a good jacket? Gotland's Visby version is called Bagerite. A golden oldie including a menu filled to the brim with seasonal products. How about one locally sourced wonton taco with kimchi and lime, a baked cauliflower with a caramelized crust or a plate of Kummel with lobster sauce? The alcoholic drinks menu and whatnot good old friendly hosts complete the experience. Bageriet stands for an ssustainable feeling at home guarantee in the middle of Visby's most beautiful market.

CRÊPERI & LOGI

CRÊPERI & LOGI

All foodies report in the middle of medieval Visby Creperie and Logi. Crêperi on the menu, Sweden's tastiest local crêpes. Here they serve everything, okay, almost everything, on a wafer-thin plate cake including seasonal topping. Vegan variants, gluten-free, traditional Swedish or the better wild-picked products. Just call and the pancake baking team of Mattias and Ann-Sofie will start baking. And for dessert? Expansion above the kitchen. The iron-shaped medieval building also houses a fully furnished suite. A pancake including Hästen's bed, so to speak. Very nice to curl up around your bed after a drink that got out of hand.

VÅRDSHUSET LINDGÅRDEN

VÅRDSHUSET LINDGÅRDEN

Fancy a traditional Swedish one touch avec un peu de France? Vårdshuset Lindgården in Almedalen is the sustainable one pleasure to be. For the better, slightly chic, Swedish balls or toast Skagen topped with some fresh shrimp and a squeeze of lemon. Lindgården stands for the unmissable Visby classics on the shore of the Baltic Sea. The well-known Swedish chefs bow down year round  about their classroom sourced-te dishes. In the summer easy going under the walnut tree, in winter at the bar or at any cozy table among the Visby people from the neighborhood.

GÅSEMORA GÅRDSKROG

GÅSEMORA GÅRDSKROG

Just north of Gotland on it remote the beautiful island of Fårö, accessible by boat Gåsemora Gårdskrog. This is where Hanna and Kristoffer's sustainable domain is located, where they do just about everything sustainable cooking stars from heaven. Island flavors predominate in culinary terms. The very current wine list, Hanna's non-alcoholic own brews and a spectacular view over the tranquil harbor do the rest. Always book Gåsemora Gårdskrog included night. Why? That's why! Highly recommended.

PRIMA GÅRD

PRIMA GÅRD

And for the top of your island list, chef Martin's Fine Afternoon. From late spring to the end of the indian summer and on some crunchy winter evenings, are Martin's culinary experiences key. In the heritage trendy limestones farm life is GREAT! Durable and very, very FINE.

STORA KARLSÖ

STORA KARLSÖ

There's Fårö and there's Stora Karlsö. Two top islands located near Visby for the best culinary island experiences. At Stora Karlsö, at the pavilion of the same name, the spectacular Baltic Sea just barely splashes over you Baltic snacks. A row of photogenic limestone rocks serve as an ultra-modern designed limestone windbreak. Enjoy your Baltic experience better out of the wind. While eating, one feathered friend after another introduces itself to you loudly, or in this case loudly, with a loud beak. Oh yes, and believe it or not, they are guaranteed to serve the freshest fish here. The sustainable please to be in case you are a bit of a bon vivant. From late spring to the end of the endless indian summer. Sounds fantastic the Swedes would say.

And how to get to Gotland? Now take a direct ferry from Northern Germany to Visby. Hansa destination signs for a sustainable crossing. Together on one boat with significantly less emissions than each person traveling alone on the main road. On board in the evening and then roll out of your cabin near Visby the next morning. Sustainability is an asset. Hansa ahoy, full speed from Rostock across the Baltic Sea towards Sweden. See you, sustainably soon… on Gotland.
