These are the best hotels in Alkmaar

Alkmaar is a city that you might not immediately consider when you want to get away for a weekend. A shame, because you can easily enjoy yourself there for a day or two. Both Amsterdam and the beach are nearby, there is a typical Dutch atmosphere, there is cheese everywhere, and it is relatively quiet. Have we convinced you yet? Great, then you can immediately book an overnight stay at one of the best hotels in Alkmaar books.

Hotel 't Fnidsen

Hotel 't Fnidsen

Around the corner from the Waagplein (where the cheese market is held), in one of the most beautiful streets of the old city center of Alkmaar, you will find Hotel 't Fnidsen. Spacious and bright rooms with comfortable beds and bathtubs (in the suites). If you have a choice, ask for the champagne suite. It has a nice big freestanding bath. Let's bubble! You can also do that at the Wijn Bistro Bar or the restaurant, which are also part of 't Fnidsen.

SOUP

SOUP

SOUP is run by Sophie, who loves cooking and vintage furniture so much that she decided to open her own vegetarian restaurant and vintage shop on the Hekelstraat. Everything you see is for sale, even the dresses of the staff. In addition to delicious soup, SOEPP also serves breakfast, salads, snacks and hot meals. The four apartments above the shop were transformed into a mini vintage hotel. All rooms are decorated in a different style and have their own kitchen. Not that you need it, because you will probably eat at SOEPP.

Grapelli Boutique Hotel

Grapelli Boutique Hotel

In the middle of the city center of Alkmaar is the Grapelli Boutique Hotel. The former warehouse that served as a dance school for over 40 years was converted into a twelve-room hotel in 2021. Breakfast is served at restaurant ECHT, just a minute away (and really tasty). Grapèlli is located in the city center, within walking distance of shops and cozy restaurants. Yet you don't notice that in the hotel itself, it is nice and quiet there. At least, that's how it seems. Although there are no more dance lessons, there is still plenty of dancing to be done. The rooms have a record player. You can borrow LPs in the common area, but you can of course also bring your own. The twelve rooms are decorated in three different styles: bohemian, chic and loft. All rooms are spacious and have a rain shower. The larger rooms even have their own kitchenette. Three of the lofts are duplex apartments and are suitable as family rooms.

WOLF Hotel

WOLF Hotel

WOLF Hotel & Kitchen is located on the Mient, right in the centre of Alkmaar. The eight rooms overlook the canals and the Waagtoren. There are also two apartments that are spacious enough for five people. The walls are decorated with cheerful wallpaper with tropical prints, ropes with monkey lamps by Seletti hang from the ceiling, and a wooden wolf hangs in the restaurant. That restaurant is recommended, by the way, even if you don't want monkeys or wolves on your plate. Enough choice for vegetarians and vegans here.

College Hotel

College Hotel

Almost 100 years ago (1927) it was College Hotel built. It used to be a real college, completely in the Amsterdam School style, but nowadays hardly any books are opened here. The desks have been replaced by modern furniture, only in the breakfast room you still sit on old school chairs. Somewhat sober, but therefore also extra schoollike. Fortunately, the friendly staff provides extra atmosphere.
