Graine et Ficelle, eco-farm near Nice (France)
Do we have one in the eco-farm category? In the south of France? So what. Half an hour inland behind Nice you will find Graine et Ficelle, a tasteful mini-farm far away from the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera while it is still within reach. There are eco-lodges for six people with a luxurious bathroom, a wooden deck and an outdoor shower, and there is a tent camp, you can pitch your own tent and there is a - hey, nice, well-kept bed & breakfast.
To be honest, it is exactly the place that everyone asks me for every year: every corner is photogenic, child-friendly but not too (not that everything revolves around the kids, so to speak, and you are constantly startled by the screeching of other people's offspring - sorry but hey, we're on holiday too!).
There are chickens and rabbits foraging, there is a huge orchard and - of course - a swimming pool with a spacious terrace in the sun that you will never want to leave. The holiday resort is run by stylist Isabelle, who left Paris with her four children to find happiness elsewhere. Ah. Taste taste taste. She found that happiness in the shadow of Nice, that much is clear.
Not that she has now promptly taken on the role of Mother Superior! No, you can choose most of it yourself during your stay. That's where the camping part starts. Otherwise you have to go to a hotel. And it isn't. What she does do is make sure everything looks fantastic and every morning she provides a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables from her own garden, bread from the local bakery and homemade jam. Then again, yes
