The best hotels in the Netherlands with really good restaurants
A weekend away is wonderful, but sometimes it doesn't mean you'll recover at all. You have to do everything yourself: shopping, something cultural, a nice lunch, that nice beer café and certainly that one restaurant that has been on your list for years. Before you know it, your agenda is fuller than that of a typical working week.
It's fun, sure, but sometimes things need to change. How? A cabin in the woods is certainly an option, but another excellent option is booking a hotel with nice rooms and a good restaurant. Sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, go back to bed to read a book, or take a short walk around the neighborhood before joining the hotel bar and restaurant in the evening. Peak early (or not at all) and truly recharge.
Boutique Hotel Restaurant Ysbrantsz opened in September 2020 in a unique location in Hoorn. A historic building at Roode Steen 14. It was meant to be, because the owners have a passion for the number fourteen. Why? A son born on the fourteenth and a daughter born in 2014—that can't be a coincidence. So, off they went, bought it, and transformed it into the place of their dreams. The interior was inspired by the Louvre in Paris, hence the beautiful yellow hues in the restaurant. The bar is in the soft green of the Westfries Museum. The restaurant offers extensive lunches and dinners, under the direction of Tom Tros, who was previously sous chef at Michelin-starred restaurant Lucas Rive for five years. Like!
All ten hotel rooms are decorated by Laura herself, with vintage items. She scoured countless vintage markets, and her father refurbished the old furniture. It couldn't be more charming.
We fall in love with old farmhouses with thatched roofs, which have been transformed into a modern house or hotel. At Mooirivier you immediately feel that love has gone into it: real thought has been put into the design of the rooms, the lobby, and the restaurant. Everything is wonderfully light thanks to the high windows and the rooms are filled with a mix of design classics, vintage finds and sleek furniture. The eye-catcher of the restaurant is the open kitchen, where one delicious dish after another is prepared. You can enjoy good food and drinks at restaurant Aan de Oever, and you will therefore sleep even better there.
Mooirivier owes its name to its location on the beautiful Vecht River, in the verdant Vecht Valley. You can warm up in the Wellness & Gym (or cool down in the Vecht).
Villa Spacious View in the east of our beautiful country is beautiful from the outside and from the inside. A monumental hotel where everything is just right: from the entrance to the reception and even to all the small details, visible attention has been paid. Is it coming:
The hotel's rooms are modern and luxurious and all linked to a theme. Do you like bathing? Then choose the Water fun room with bath, shower, steam shower and infrared sauna. An attractive room for two, including jacuzzi, rose petals and a bottle of champagne come and there is also a large bathtub. Romantic much. What about the food? Well, that's good and leaves you wanting more every day. Which makes you look forward to tomorrow's morning.
Rococco Plantation It's magical! And absolutely nothing less. Absolutely not. Located on the Waterland estate, just a fifteen-minute drive from Amsterdam. Although you wouldn't think so, this place is unique. The infinite love for history and authenticity seeps through the walls, and you can feel and see that love. Plantage Rococo was designed to impress, just as it was intended in the sixteenth century. And it succeeds. The cuisine also succeeds! You'll be dining there with a fantastic, all-organic chef. A small menu with only pure dishes, which isn't surprising when you consider that Plantage Rococo is owned by the same people as Buitenplaats Plantage Vogelenzang, a green space where you can also enjoy a wonderful meal.
At Bilderberg hotels you can not only sleep well, but also eat well. At Kasteel Vaalsbroek they serve culinary four-course dinners, at Wientjes in Zwolle you can also eat well as a vegetarian and at the Keizerskroon in Apeldoorn they cook for you as if you were an emperor yourself. Château Holtmühle in Tegelen even has two restaurants (enough rooms in such a castle); Die Alde Heerlickheijt and d'Orangerie. The menu mainly contains dishes from French cuisine with Limburg and Eastern influences. Would you rather get out of the hotel for a while? In any case, don't forget to join us at Het Bilderberg Breakfast in the morning. With a capital letter, because it is certainly extensive.
You will find the restaurant and boutique hotel between the Vinkeveense and Loosdrechtse plassen The Netherlands. This is where all the dots are crossed. The menu is put together by star chef Wilco Berends, always tailored to the season - something we love! The wine list has been put together by the sommelier of the year - not bad either. Hats off to the service, which is also of a high standard. And as the name suggests, you will find subtle hints of our Dutch glory everywhere. On your plate with fresh seasonal products, and in the hotel rooms with beautiful home-grown designer furniture, such as HAY. They really live up to their name.
Kruisherenhotel is located in the pleasant south, to be precise: Maastricht. A very cool fifteenth-century Crosier monastery transformed into a design hotel. A beautiful location, beautiful building and in the heart of the center. And then they also have an eclectic bistro called Spencer's. A local hotspot, known for gastronomic pleasure with very fine drinks, in a historic location. Classic French cuisine with local ingredients and top flavors. Oysters, lobsters, steak tartare, you can eat all the classics there.
Hilly landscapes, wine production and good food: Limburg and Italy have more in common than you probably think. This quickly becomes clear at Winselerhof in Landgraaf, part of the Oostwegel Collection. Here you come for peace, nature and delicious Italian food. You certainly come here for a good night's sleep, but you also enjoy the delicious Italian dishes at Pirandello, refreshing summer drinks on the terrace and the hospitable atmosphere.
In the middle of summer they organize a cocktail evening here: in addition to tasting different cocktails, you also get a Limoncello workshop, where you discover the secrets of its production. Oh, and they organize 'Dine in the Vine': Italian dining with the music of soprano Janine Kitzen.
Does nature beckon? Then it is worth taking a look here the nicest places to stay in nature.
An old KLM office that now feels like a mix between a hotel and an art gallery. Hotel De Plesman The Hague is a place with a story. Here you'll sleep among designer furniture, high ceilings, and art that honors the past. Think: warm colors, wall art by artists like Soo Burnell and Casper Faassen, and a tranquil atmosphere that instantly draws you in.
You can stay for a short period of time, but also for weeks. There are also stylish apartments (The Residences) for those who are in the city for a longer period. And then that location: right between the center and the beach. You can choose every morning: do you go for coffee shops and shops or sand between your toes?
Okay, okay, we have a number of favorite addresses in Amsterdam and okay, okay, okay, okay, there are quite a few of them that deserve praise for their cuisine. But since the classic Hotel de L'Europe received an amazing contemporary copy-paste-to-home-please upgrade (beautiful) + a new equally awesome Italian restaurant + the nicest terrace in Amsterdam (also nice to sit with a blanket) + always fantastic good food (understatement) serves at Bord'Eau* + Freddy's Bar, the most awesome bar in the center of Amsterdam (because old-skool but cool) and a bookshop of Mendo, we absolutely #neverwanttogohomeagain.
When we checked in for the first time at the hidden boutique hotel The Lochemse Berg, we were not only impressed by the wonderfully different-than-usual looks, the nice hiding place among the trees, but certainly also because of the food! The master of the house is the chef, the lady of the house takes care of the reception - a top combination. You eat according to the season and according to the chef's whims. That's okay: we like those quirks. Save a hole (hole!) for a huge cheese board that you can select yourself from the cheese cart – a gift.
Beach hotel Cadzand-Bad in a nutshell? Slow down and disconnect from the daily race and treat yourself to a star meal. Yoga on your balcony with the swirling sea behind you or a champagne drink for two with a view of the marina. Or endless walks including a 0-shit-phone-in-your-room-forgotten hole (everything nice and close). An unprecedented dining experience in one of the hotel's five (!) restaurant concepts versus having to turn around again.
