Kaagman & Kortekaas, Amsterdam
News in Amsterdam Heart of City! Kaagman & Kortekaas is the name and it is located in the narrow St. Nicolaasstraat (between the Nieuwendijk and the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal). The plan was a 'simply nice bistro', a cool, just right and yet no-nonsense restaurant it became. The menu features classic French dishes: game and poultry, home-made charcuterie and oysters at the bar, all remarkably affordable (think price-quality), right in the heart of the city, we like. And the men Kaagman and Kortekaas? Number 1 worked at Visaandeschelde and Toscanini, number 2 at Lille. Couldn't go wrong and it didn't. Recommended! But beware, the menu is really classic French, and therefore coarse at times, with accompanying huts, bruises, bones, tendons, fat edges, organs and everything the French eat (and the choice is not necessarily huge, anyway, what we mean is: you have to love it).
